Although the general stores and souvenir shops in the various areas of the park stock many of the same books and knicknacks, I found each to offer an array of unique items as well.
The general store at Mammoth is a nice place to stop and grab a bite and some ice cream if one is doing the Loop Road, for it is another hour to Tower Falls and even longer to Canyon Village.
I also found the stuffed elk a nice photo op, and quite a bit safer than trying to pose beside a live elk along the road, as many tourists do.
My favorite general store, which is the only one I have not found currently listed on TripAdvisor, is the one at Grant Village. I got a Yellowstone luggage strap there, which I now use on all of my airline trips--it is brightly colored and quite unique.
