My wife and I are mad golfers and The Herritage Golf Resort was fantastic. A 10 day trip and 9 rounds of golf followed by a choice of restaurants couldn't have been better. We have already decided that we will be back next year.

Visited Mauritius again as part of our current tour and were really looking forward to a relaxing week however from check in to check out matters did not work. Firstly our room was not ready at check in 5pm where as we were previously informed that anytime after 3pm would be fine.

We then went to book restaurants as they refused to do this by email prior to our arrival - what as truly terrible system - the majority were booked up already - how could this happen!! - so we were left with a couple on our last three nights - more on those later.

We were taken to our room which was a 'sea view' well if at the back of the pool counts - anyway it was very dark and had a musty smell on entry; it felt as if it had not been used for weeks.

The buffet was general OK and the staff good in the main.

On our second day we used the beach sunbeds and were having a quiet sunday morning when at 11am the DJ decided to turn house music on at full blast and to a person everyone was annoyed because of the intrusive nature of this. We saw him approached by a guest who was clearly annoyed and after calling in management thankfully made sure the music volume was reduced however on many occasions during the week the noise as very intrusive for no reason.

The beach staff were very good and attentive.

The booked restaurants were a mixed bag - good the italian; terrible the indian. The steak at the italian was very good however they give you a butter knife to eat it with!! As for the indian, this has had high praise however from the moment you could see they served their food on metal plates which changes the whole experience; this smacks of style over substance and it was. The food was generally cold and tasteless - if they only concentrated on the quality of the food then it could and should be fantastic.

We walked to the C club in the sister hotel and frankly this was as bad with worse service and cold food.

Finally at check out we were presented incorrectly with a bill which we queried and it was withdrawn however not a sorry or apology for the error was forthcoming.

Overall very disappointed, this should have been a pleasure - my wife would have left the place after 48 hours and we did try to book another hotel it was that bad.

Having been to Mauritius before there are some lovely hotels however this is the worst place we have stayed in years - and don't get me going on the 4/5 star rating - a top end 3 star classification at best.

Cannot say how much we enjoyed our stay at Awali Resort fantastic . Staff amazing in every resterurant we ate in .Came to celerbrate my 60th birthday thank you for my birthday cake, rooms lovley stunning cant wait to come back later next year already looking into booking .Special thanks to Shyama what lovley lady and now friend x

We have stayed at this resort for the last 14 days. The staff make this hotel, they are polite, nothing is too much trouble and very friendly. Our room was perfectly clean and plenty of space. A private safe, mini bar and towels changed twice a day. A number of restaurants to choose from which you need to pre book before you arrive. My only moan is they don’t change the menus. We arranged a private transfer from airport roughly 45. Mins, works perfectly. Adult only pools which is a plus for us. No problem getting sun beds, waiters on the beach will always help if you need to move them. Two days before you leave book a shower room, don’t pay extra for your room. This works perfectly.

We throughly enjoyed our 10 night stay, all staff went out of their way to make our holiday truly memorable. Nothing was too much trouble. Restaurants served fantastic freshly prepared food.
Beautiful well tended grounds. Very safe resort, plenty to do. We would recommend staying here.
