My Son and I travelled to the Heritage for a week during December. The golf was excellent. It is most definitely not a resort for children. The snorkelling was great but you had to go by boat to snorkel whereas when we went previously to another resort you could snorkel all day if you like. The current was also very strong so it was not particularly nice to swim in the sea well you acually couldn't because of boats, etc. The rooms are stunning and service was excellent. Food was okay. Overall won't be going back.

We stayed at this hotel for our wedding and honeymoon at the beginning of December for 14 nights. We had done lots of research on the hotel and expected something really special....we were not disappointed!

Although the hotel is small the layout meant that it was never crowded and no problems in finding sun beds etc at whatever time of day you wanted them.

The weather throughout our stay was perfect. Quite windy but we didn’t find this a problem. We had a couple of rain showers but mostly on an evening.

The rooms were spacious and had a fab bathroom. We stayed in room 6108 and had a great view of the ocean. Our room was kept immaculate by Ranjeeta our housekeeper. She also made our wedding very special by decorating the room beautifully.

Food in the hotel was wonderful. We ate in all restaurants except the Chateau and can honestly say we enjoyed every meal. The fine dining restaurant was fantastic and we always enjoyed infinity blue (On the Beach). We had no complaints about the buffet restaurant either, we always found the food to be top quality, fresh and lots of choice.

The premium All Inclusive package is great value as it includes all restaurants and bars (inc Premium brand Drinks). I would not recommend staying on any other basis other than the all inclusive as the cost of drinks and food were high.

The pool area was always clean and uncrowded and with waiter service drinks and fruit etc it was the perfect place to spend the day just chilling out. We did venture onto the beach a couple of days and also enjoyed this however, if you enjoy swimming the sea really is not deep enough and is quite sharp underfoot from the coral. The current is also very strong so would need to be careful if you have kids or are not strong swimmers.

One of our favourite parts of our stay were the treatments we received at the spa. They were bliss! We enjoyed everything from foot massage to facials again included in the package. The spa is gorgeous and so relaxing. Yes, you do have to wear paper pants but who cares when your getting pampered each day. The therapists are lovely and really put you at ease.

We didn’t do much in the way of sports but there was a lot of choice if you wanted to participate. Did the water aerobics which was fun and also enjoyed the glass bottom boat. However, if you are more active you can always join in with the bike rides or water skiing.

We enjoyed the hotel so much that we didn’t venture out much although we did take a helicopter tour of the island. Although expensive it was a great morning out and if you get chance a definite must!

Our wedding day was arranged by Vidousha. We found her to be so helpful and caring. We felt as if she genuinely wanted to make our wedding day special. She listened to exactly what we wanted and made sure everything was taken care of. We had no stress at all and can honestly say everything was perfect. The Sega band who performed at the wedding were such fun and our photographer was really good.

If you want an intimate, exotic and stress free wedding then this is the place to be. (Thank you Vidousha for making our day so special)

We would return to The Heritage in an instant and would have no reservations about recommending this hotel to anyone else.

We went to the Heritage for a fortnight at the beginning of December 06 for our honeymoon. We spent a long time deciding where to go and the reviews from other tripadviser users did not let us down.

The Heritage was wonderful and the perfect place for our honeymoon, we would throughly recommend it.

Food
Like other reviewers we favoured Infinity Blue for food, the lobster and king prawns were superb as were the cocktail recommendations. I miss my daily Kir Royales. Make sure you book infinity blue as we always had to do it at least one day before. For lunch I would thorougly recommend the crab cakes. The fine dining restaurant is worth doing for the chocolate platter alone. It is the most heavenly dessert. The buffets and gala dinners were always good and the breakfast buffet was excellent although watch out for the birds that sneak into the bread baskets. You can have breakfast delivered to your room but the choice is nowhere near as wide. We visited Le Chateau as part of our package. It was nice to go somewhere different but we felt the food was better at the Heritage and you also have to pay for drinks here (min £20 per bottle of wine)

Beach/Sea
Whilst the beach is not as picture perfect as those on the east side of the island it is ideal for just lounging in the sun, with the staff serving drinks at your sunbed. The seashore can be quite rough on your feet. The all inclusive package includes a glass bottom boat trip where you do see quite a few fish although it does feel like quite a long hour. Watersports are tide and wind dependant so some days there is only a two hour slot for you to do them so they are worth booking in advance.

Rooms
Before we went we took the advice of other tripadvisers and emailed the hotel direct to ask for a sea facing room. The first time I emailed them (as myself) the said the hotel was full and we could only get it if we paid extra. My husband emailed a month later and he was told they would do all the could to accomadate us and sure enough they did. Our view over the pool and watching the sunsets each night was fabulous. Some of the honeymooners we met were disappointed as their rooms overlooked the gardens so it is definitely worth requesting in advance. Our room was always clean as was the whole hotel - even the beach toilets were spotless.

Spa
Neither myself or my husband are particularly into spa treatments and we used to get nervous before each one...however they were relaxing. We used to have ours at 9am so we'd often lay there worrying that we'd miss breakfast which probably defeats the purpose. In hindsight it is probably better to book for the evening as after some of the treatments they do tell you not to go into the sun or to leave the oils on your skin. If you go into the sun without washing the oils off you WILL burn even if you put suncream on. Just be warned about the paper pants. They are cut very high (for the ladies) and leave very little to the imagination for the men. Myself and my husband requested 'couple' treatments where you are in the same treatment room. This meant I spent the first 5 minutes of each treatment in fits of giggles admiring him in his 'paper pants' - they are worth a laugh if nothing else!! Everyone else we spoke to absolutely loved the spa.

Trips
We booked ours through Golden Sands and did the dolphin catamaran, the inland tour and an east coast catamaran trip.
The dolphin one is the most popular (about 40 people on the catamaran) and you will see dolphins although you do not get to swim with them and there are 50 other boats also following them. The catamaran is a full day trip however you remain anchored in the same place so I didn't rate it that highly as you only travel 500 metres or so from the harbour area.
On the inland tour we saw the volcano crater, wildlife park, glass factory (not worth it atall), hindu lake, seven coloured earths and the black river gorges. At the gorges there were wild monkeys running about that actually posed for the cameras and the seven coloured earths are well worth a look.
The East coast catamaran trip was a lot smaller (12 people) than the dolphin one but we felt it was a lot better as you travelled along the coast to a waterfall and then stopped at the Ile de cerfs for a couple of hours which was absolutely beautiful. The white sands and crystal clear, bathwater warm water were fantastic.
All the trips were about £45 per person

Tipping/Bills
On our first day we weren't sure of the protocal so waited for other people to leave the restaurant so we could see what they did. For lunch, dinner and drinks you will always receive a 'bill' for you to sign. Nobody really seemed to tip for lunch or drinks but most people seemed to for the evening meal. 60 rupees is about a pound and apparantly the serving staff earn approximately £50 a week so you can get an idea of how much to tip. There is a box at reception where you can tip all staff. We were very rarely served by the same person as the hotel has so many staff so you may want to tip individuals or alternatively save it to the end.

Overall, we cannot fault the Heritage, it was worth every penny. For everyone reading this and planning to book it I am very very jealous!!

after looking for somewhere special for our wedding we came across the heritage and after reading the amazing reviews we decided that heritage was the place for us. Being a high maintanance kind of girl only the best will do and i wasnt dissappointed in fact i burst in to tears as it was like being in paradise. The rooms were beautiful and the food was to die for we enjoyed the spa treatments too but we missed them sometimes due to having too much fun with friends that we had met. We eat in infinity blue most of the time and the chef was fantastic he even stayed to have a drink and a chat with us one night. Our wedding day was the best day of my life and we paid extra to have a meal for two on the beach and it was worth every penny and so romantic. i still dream about the hertigage now and will be going back very soon its without question a very beautiful place.

The Heritage is very nice. The down side we encountered was the number of children that were in the hotel.

We would play golf every day in the morning but by the time we had returned for some peace and quiet to relax it was not always possible.

Considering that it is advertised as a 5* resort i could not believe the number of people with families. There was no serarate pool for the children to use and they often ran around and generally were not what i would expect of the hotel.

The staff were polite and friendly and made efforts to look after the guests.

I took the opportunity to become a qualified PADI diver and took advantage of the all inclusive diving package that was on offer.

Would i go there again - yes the value for money was exceptional although i would have to consider the time of year to get there when it really is a place of peace and tranquility.
