Constructed in 2009, the Little Corn Beach and Bungalow --) is by far the nicest place to stay on the island. This small hotel is made up of eight beach front bungalows with private baths, just steps from the water. The hotel also includes an American restaurant (try the made from scratch margaritas!). Before moving to Nicaragua, Little Corn B&B co-owner/architect, Scot Smyth, won an “Innovative Builder of the Year Award” from the Northern Colorado homebuilders association. His eco-friendly design style is front and center at the Little Corn B&B. Shower water comes from rooftop rain barrels, ambient light shines into the cabañas via re-purposed water bottle windows, and the placement of each building was oriented in such a way to minimize tree loss. In addition, designs for wind and solar power are underway. Scot and his partner, Kristine Gilfoyle, have sponsored several veterinary clinics on the island resulting in the spaying and neutering of hundreds of island pets. Bungalow rates vary between $45 and $85, depending on the season and cabin. Phones (--).
