We recently spent 6 nights/5 days at this resort.

The good:
The oceanview bures are huge with a balcony right next to the beach. Great value for money as you pay big bucks at other resorts for an Oceanside Bure.

The pool is great although not a lot of seating to supervise young children in the pool. For the first time ever I reserved a pool chair at breakfast time as I knew I’d miss out if I waited until after breakfast and I needed to watch my daughters in the pool.

The food was pleasantly ok. The Breakfast buffet has a number of options but these never change, so was a bit monotonous by day 4. We just had a coffee and muffin for lunch which you get from the small deli (two muffin options) but you can order lunch in the restaurant if you choose.

There are two dinner options, either the Bar and grill which is a la carte but with pretty limited options or the main restaurant where you can order from the dinner menu or pay for buffet. We weren’t impressed with the buffet option which ranged from fjd 50 to fjd 79 per adult (kids free) so ordered off the menu.

The sound of the sea from your Bure is so cool!

A couple of negatives:
Service is shocking. Everyone is really lovely but appear half asleep. This was our 3rd trip to Fiji so we know all about “Fiji time” but this was on another level.

Drinks are exorbitantly priced. We ordered pina coladas one evening priced on the menu at fjd 28. However when we went to sign for them discovered we had been charged $36 for each drink. We questioned this and were told prices had gone up that day. We refused to pay $36 and got them for $28. This sort of thing leaves a slightly bad taste in your mouth as you feel like they are really taking the mickey.

We had to phone for loo paper at 8am one morning as housekeeping don’t seem to replenish supplies! It hadn’t arrived by 1pm so we had to phone and ask for it again.

The bar and grill staff were very slow to take food orders and one night we had to wait 30 minutes after being seated to have our order taken.

We ordered coffees from the deli and were told they would be brought to us by the pool. Half an hour later they hadn’t arrived so I went looking for them to find they hadn’t been made.

The bures are not sound proof so you hear the neighbours talking and their tv going etc despite the sound of the sea.

Overall this is a nice resort for the price.
If you want a lot of activities and a golden sand beach go somewhere else but it’s a good place to hang by the pool with a book for a few days.

Room Tip: Ocean view bures are the way to go

We were treated so kindly at this resort! They were helpful in so many ways. The room was fabulous with a huge balcony. It was also very clean and spacious! It really has everything! Loved the little boat ride to and fro the resort!

Room Tip: Huge lovely balcony looking out at the ocean!

Amazing holiday. The staff are truly unique and 70% of them are employed from the local village which is a great commitment from Double Tree Fiji. There was a big emphasis on environmental and traditional activities in kids club including coconut husking, fishing, kayaking, basket weaving, mud crab hunting and gecko races. Beautiful on world climate change day the kids were encouraged to plant mangrove trees. My husband I took part too... Plus the cocktail hour is great!

Overall this resort was good value for a family holiday of 6 nights. We stayed in a Bure and were not disturbed by neighbours in the adjoining room. I reckon that the noise of the aircon/fans acted as white noise. Do be prepared for frequent albeit brief power cuts. We did ask for extra seating for the outdoor table and this was provided. I was pleased we were at the end of the resort as the music at the pool was way too loud in the afternoon. The pool was never crowded but we did have to reserve a lounger at breakfast.

We paid for the buffet breakfast and had snacks of our own then ate out at night. We had a range of room service and restaurants and were happy with all and did not wait long. Tip, order the design your own pizza which worked out $10 cheaper than the set menu pizza.

Like most big chain resorts the drinks were pricey and agreed the cocktails were weak. Tip, stock up with duty free and get ice from the bar, to reduce the cost.

There were two blackboards by the pool that listed both kids and adults daily activities. I noted mainly families with younger kids and I think teens or active people may experience boredom at this resort or expect to spend big to get to the off island activities. It suited as for a drop and flop holiday.

I was impressed by the cake and wine I received from the resort on my ‘0’ Birthday. Thanks again for this unexpected surprise.

Tip, do use the resort taxis as they were no more expensive, in general, to the other cabs. We had a dodgey yellow taxi driver from the airport, whom had a lead foot and predilection for attempting overtaking on bends.

Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
