Jambo!! We are a family of six adults (3 couples) who stayed at this villa over the Thanksgiving holiday (Nov 21 to Nov 26, 2016). Prior to staying here, we communicated with Alice from ZanzibarHouses extensively. She speaks and understands English perfectly and her responses to our many, many questions were prompt and thorough. We drove from the Zanzibar airport to her office in Kiwengwa Village where we met Alice and Enrico. They drove us to this villa since it was so late at night.
First off, the location is UNBEATABLE. You are literally steps away from the safe beach with lots of privacy. Alice had told us about a sandbar that would be on the beach in the morning. Thanks to her, we were able to enjoy it everyday from 8am to 11am when it would disappear till the following morning, depending on the tides. This was our favorite tip as it is an incredible sight to see and to walk on. Furthermore, the beach is very nice, clean, blue water!
We have a strict vegan and Jain diet that we follow so it was VERY nice to have a fully-equipped kitchen with big freezer, refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. There is no microwave but the stove serves its purpose just fine. We also did not wish to stay in a villa with a chef/cook as we prefer to prepare our own meals at our convenience.
We had parking for our rental car and the beds were very comfortable, villa was very clean and there was a cleaning lady who came everyday. We also had nighttime security Simai and Idrissa who were both very helpful and who looked after us on different nights. The shower water was not always hot but in the 90 degree Fahreinheit weather, who's looking for a hot shower anyway?! We were also provided with free wi-fi and password that worked on 3 devices at a time which was pretty good.
The photos you see online are accurate; and we were able to use the ATM, the bank, eat at the Italian restaurant in the village, and book a trip with Alice to nearby Jozani forest.
I would like to say one more thing. For our first night, the fuse blew out and we lost power/electricity for the entire night. It was not anyone's fault at all; it was just unfortunate timing that it happened. The nighttime security guy and Enrico tried so hard to fix it overnight and we saw them working hard and they felt so bad. But the way in which Alice handled the situation, makes our family proud to give them 5 stars for customer service!! Thank you for your hospitality and we hope to visit Zanzibar and this beautiful villa again soon!! Hakuna Matata!!
Last November we decided for a "mixed" vacation in Tanzania. The first week was dedicated to Safari in Serengeti and 'Ngoro 'Ngoro National Parks, together with Lake Natron and surrounding Masai villages. With an internal flight, then, we arrived in Zanzibar and for the first time we met the people of ZanzibarHouses, Alice and Enrico. Young, nice, Italian-and English speaking, experienced and above all enthusiastic about Zanzibar, where they have been living for more than five years now.
They arrived at the airport with a private car in order to meet us; after one hour of dusty and unbelievably crowded road we arrived...in the Paradise! Kiwengwa is a location on the northeastern coast of Zanzibar, with plenty of bar, clubs, resorts and an infinite white (and deserted!!!) beach where the Indian Ocean melts with the sky.
Villa PAtti was more than we even dared to imagine in our wildest dreams, but you just have to look at the photos in TripAdvisor to understand.
The service was a 5-star quality, with daily cleaning, night security, a beautiful garden leading directly to the beach and every single piece of furniture simply perfect.
Alice and Enrico gave us a mobile phone (yes, a real cell phone) with which we could have been constantly in touch with them for every problem or need.
The food quality in the restaurants around Kiwengwa has always been excellent, and close to Villa Patti (less than 2 kms, or 1 USD taxi) there's a commercial mall entirely managed by Italians: there's a clinic, a pharmacy, an Italian restaurant, a supermarket selling Italian products (Nutella rules!), a bank branch and the real estate agency of Alice and Enrico, ZanzibarHouses.
Our stay in Villa Patti has been really unforgettable, and our kids were amazed by being so close to the beach.
During the week, we went to some tour (organised by Alice - who always came with us) to Prison Island, to watch the dolphins and to the ancient capital, Stone Town.
Well, the decision has already been taken as soon as we came back to Italy: next year we will go back to Zanzibar and Villa Patti.
