I had an absolutly brilliant time staying there! Only a few minutes from the madness of the main malia strip n a short walk from the peacefull malia old town. Rooms are very clean, staff are friendly and the pool area is stunning

Lovely small hotel in a brilliant location between Malia Old Town and Malia strip. Close enough for just a short stroll to both. There is a supermarket 10 m away.
Very nicely presented entrance with a really attractive lobby, bar and reception area where there is soft seating and a tv showing either sport or music. Stone flooring throughout ths area.
Reception. Was perfect, the young lady behind the counter was a pleasure to deal with, very smiley helpful persona.

Breakfast. This was included in our stay and was very nice. There was a small change everyday to keep things interesting. We found breakfast to be very good. Cretan breakfasts plus eggs, bacon, small sausage, mushrooms. Cereals, toast etc.

Room 217. Has a small balcony which gets the morning sunshine. Table and 2 chairs.
Very comfortable double bed and very nice pillows too. Storage consists of a wardrobe
and 2 one drawer units. There is a mirrored dressing table with chair. Fridge, a/c payable €45pw or €7pd which should be budgeted for, there are 3 plug sockets, safe payable.
Room was very quiet at night despite being close to Malia strip.

Bathroom is small, shower cubicle is quite small and the shower not the best but usable. The room is cleaned daily with towels replaced as required.
Decor for the room was very simple and scuff free.

Pool. Very nice pool and poolside area with a pool bar for food and drinks. Prices were not over inflated like some other hotels. There are plenty of sun loungers. Whole area was very clean. Pool table €2.

Gardens are well tended with some interesting cacti.
WIFI is payable €15pw or €3pd which we didn't use. Late check out is €20 to keep the room until 6pm.

All of the hotel including gardens and pool area is spotlessly clean and staff are lovely.

The whole hotel is a credit to the owners and staff. I would definitely recommend ths small friendly hotel.

Room Tip: Room 217 excellent sleep quality, good ac

As a couple we were slightly nervous of staying in Malia, especially so close to the strip. We weren't sure what to expect from the hotel. However, this is a lovely hotel, clean, smart and really nice. The rooms are clean, well equipped, showers are a little small but usable. The staff were really friendly, always asking how we were, if there was anything we needed. Rooms cleaned daily and breakfast was lovely.

The pool area is great, proper sun trap with excellent, freshly cooked food. Overall this is a lovely place, would definitely recommend and stay again...

The hotel is far enough away from the strip not to impact, we hardly noticed but of course we were close enough to all of the restaurants and bars when we needed.

Reception staff friendly and really helpful.

Thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back away from the front. only reason is Malia seems to be quad and moped central.

We visited Malia as a group of 3 30something girls wanting a lively holiday with somewhere to chill during the day. So glad we chose this hotel. Reception staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is tastefully decorated and clean and our triple room was perfectly adequate and roomy enough for the 3 of us.

Breakfast was included on our rate and served 8.30-10 and is continental, consisting of the usual cereals toast and spreads, pastries etc. The pool bar was reasonably priced and served a good selection of drinks and meals.

Although a 5 minute walk to the main strip in Malia, we found the hotel to be quiet enough at night so sleep wasn't an issue and there is a chilled vibe around the pool. Although there were a few children and it was early in the season, I would recommend this hotel for friends and couples simply because the pool had an adult vibe to it( I have children and although they were not with me, some of the conversations going on were not suitable for the younger ear) however this is not a criticism of the hotel and did not bother my group at all.

The beach is a 10-15 min walk away but is well worth a visit.

Obviously Greek hotels are always a little basic, but The Malia Mare was clean, comfortable and accommodating. Very impressed. They even let us have a late check out room for 20 Euros and helped to book taxis etc. It is worth paying the extra for air con and safety deposit box.

Highly recommend for those on a budget but looking for a good standard of accommodation.
