“A fabulous cooking lesson with Maurizio and his parents”
Review of Modicarte

My daughter and I recently visited Modica and we had the pleasure of a fantastic cooking lesson with Maurizio and his parents. We made aroncini stuffed with shrimp and herbs, fresh pasta, fresh sardines with fennel, rolls, a dessert pastry with ricotta filling. They even had two versions of menu items as my daughter has celiac and cannot eat wheat. What a great lesson and terrific fun plus the best meal we had!!! You don't need to pay those fancy companies for a lesson. I am a serious cook and this was superb. Bon Appetito! Claudia L

Cooking with Maurizio, Maria & Giovanni was one of the highlights of our vacation in Sicily. I have taken several cooking classes throughout different regions in Italy and this was one of the best. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. The property is perched on a hilltop with spectacular sweeping views over Modica. Maurizio showed us his wonderful garden and the vegetables we would be using to cook that evening. We rolled up our sleeves, put on our aprons ready to cook. We spent over 3 hours preparing over 12 dishes, typical cuisine of Modica/Sicily. At the end we enjoyed the fruits of our labor with a leisure dinner including some wonderful Sicilian wine. It made for a memorable experience and one of the best, if not the best meal we had while in Sicily. It is an experience my mother and I will always remember. Maurizio speaks very good english and his instruction was excellent. We were staying in nearby Ragusa Ibla, and it was rather late in the evening, Maurizio graciously drove in front of our car to make sure we got on the right road to head towards Ragusa Ibla. It was only a 15 minute drive but he wanted to make sure we were going in the right direction (It's easy to get lost in Sicily). I highly recommend taking a cooking class with Maurizio. He not only teaches you how to prepare typical Sicilian dishes but he demonstrates artistry with the presentation of each dish. Maurizio previously worked in a two star Michelin restaurant in Ragusa and his artistry in the kitchen shows!. He will not disappoint. Enjoy! I'm still dreaming about the Pasta Norma!
