“Relaxing and Accommodating for Vegans!”
Review of Modicarte

My husband and I came to Sicily for our honeymoon. We figured we would begin our trip with a cooking class so we could cook better for the rest of the vacation. Mauritzio very easily came up with a set of dishes we could easily prepare as vegan. It was very easy to set up a date/time via email. He and his mother, Maria, were very friendly and made us feel at home. We learned some delicious ways to prepare the freshest ingredients. I highly recommend taking a cooking class here. The location was so beautiful that if we didn't already have a place to stay in Ragusa Ibla we'd stay there too.

What a wonderful experience. We love to cook and appreciate good quality, fresh food. Mauritzio and his mother specially prepared a class for us as we are vegetarians that do not eat eggs. Using seasonal produce we prepared fresh pasta, focaccia (tommasini), cassatine and other traditional Sicilian dishes.

Mauritzio speaks very good English and makes it very easy for you to learn the cooking techniques that he employs. The class differs from the standard cooking classes that are usually on offer where you simply follow the instructor and recipes - in this class you actually learn to prepare an entire meal.

The only downside was we were unable to eat everything we cooked because of the lack of room in our stomachs - so make sure you go with an empty stomach!

Grazie Maurizio, bellissimo!

We had a wonderful evening with Maurizio and his family, made a delicious meal and sipped local wine on the terrace . . . Highly recommend this experience!

A group of nine ladies and we all adored the evening cookery class. Mauritzio and Mama Maria guided us through the preparation of a traditional meal. We were delighted to sample the home grown olives, herbs and bergamot liqueur. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. The food delicious and the views stunning.

My daughter and I recently visited Modica and we had the pleasure of a fantastic cooking lesson with Maurizio and his parents. We made aroncini stuffed with shrimp and herbs, fresh pasta, fresh sardines with fennel, rolls, a dessert pastry with ricotta filling. They even had two versions of menu items as my daughter has celiac and cannot eat wheat. What a great lesson and terrific fun plus the best meal we had!!! You don't need to pay those fancy companies for a lesson. I am a serious cook and this was superb. Bon Appetito! Claudia L
