We stumbled upon Vertine while driving around, looking for another place. This turned out to be a great stop. The village is quite and beautiful, and La Vineria is the perfect compliment: a one-man bar operation, with nice outdoor seating, great wines by the glass, and food that's better than it needs to be given the great setting. Highly recommended.

This tiny place is so rustic italian as it gets. A delicate one man bar/cafe on top of Tuscanys rolling hillsides. Nothing but vineyards and olivetrees for as long as you Can see. A wonderful little hamlet in the middle of beautiful Chianti Classico. The menu is simple but delicate. Salads and cold cuts and wonderful cheeses. Just what you expect. Service is polite and friendly. You'll never forget this hillside place and your lunch. And he serves excellent local wine as well. We will Go there next time around.

Vertine is one of those villages that hides away in the Chianti countryside, easily missed unless someone recommends a visit. And whilst La Vineria is the only bar in the village, it doesn't take advantage of that fact. The locals seem to love it (the day we visited was a bank holiday, and the bar was lively with locals having a splendid time). A pleasant place to while away the hours, or have a quick cooling drink - take your pick.

Nice service. The guy behind the counter was attentive and friendly. We just got a couple of glasses of chianti and a plate of pecorino, but both were great. The cheese came with tuna stuffed tomatoes and it was slightly spicey. Wonderful!
The wine was also good, produced down the road and affordable. Nice location as well. Stop by if you are in Chianti.

we stayed in a rental about 10 yards from the Vineria so we went there each day, mostly for a few wines between 6 and 8 when it closes. We ate there twice and the door was really good and very cheap. They have a small wine selection but was all great and mostly made locally, as was the food. I couldn't think of a better , rural place to spend some time.
