This restaurant changed hands some months ago and we were lucky enough to dine there on April 25, Portugal's "anniversary" of the end of non-representative government. They roasted a pig on a spit and offered local food at moderate prices. Four weeks later We were in town again and ate there a second time. The menu offered standard area dishes, well-prepared and nicely served. Prices, once again, were moderate and every aspect of the service was excellent. The fancy meals? Try the Pousada. But if you like a view of the river, local people having a night out and well-prepared food at moderate prices, try Descoberta.

Great place for traditional Alentejo cuisine. The ambiance is not up to the food quality but the food is typical and everything tastes good. The staff is very nice and the wine list is nice.

I've been stopping in this restaurant for many years in its several locations and was never disappointed with the food.
It´s not very innovative food but just the real regional dishes from this part of the country where the main ingredients are bread, fish, pork meat and seasoning based on fresh herbs and garlic.
The food is very well prepared and portions very generous so be careful with the fresh bread at the star of the meal. Delicious but filling!
Some of the best choices are the tomato soup and the cod fish with beans and spinach.
Desserts are also 100% regional and made in house. They're a treat hard to avoid.

Try "arroz de feijao com espinafres e bacalhao" , it was very good. The "carne de porco a alentejana" was ok but the meat could be better. Nice outside pet-friendly seating.

A normal portugese restaurant.. the food is not bad but also not that good.. we ate better portugese food in the region.. price is normal. The restaurant itself i didn't like that much.. friendly persons.. though the details on his arms who go back to 2nd worldwar didn't gave me a nice feeling to be there.

Thank Thomas B
