Can Borras is a very charming old house that has been beautifully and tastefully renovated. The house is VERY spacious, both the rooms and common areas, and could easily accommodate our extended family, consisting of 4 families, 8 adults, 3 grown children and 3 babies. We could easily have added 2-3 more children/teens.

The house sits in a quite remote setting and offers great privacy. In fact, we did not meet anyone in the area with the exception of the very friendly gardener/care taker. The small village of Canelles is really like a ghost town, so don't expect a vibrant town life. The house and its surrounding areas can be described as being quite rustic and this is can be seen as a part of its charm.

The house offers three different areas/tables where the whole family can sit down for a meal, an outdoor permanent charcoal grill, a great swimming pool and sunbathing area, swings and sand box for kids. We made use of the whole lot! The rooftop of the house doubled as huge balconies and this we used for star gazing during the evenings.

Although we didn't meet our host Laura in person, she was most helpful both in advance of our arrival and during our stay, and even especially after we left!. A short welcome video was a nice personal touch.

Our stay at Can Borras was wonderful. The house was gorgeous with great amenities for our extended family - beautiful pool, historic but well renovated rooms and views across front lawn to Pyrenees. The location was well situated between lots of great day trips- Scenic Besalu and fascinating Dali museum nearby and also great day trip options to Cadaques, Begur, Colliuere and others. (Would also recommend getting some chef cooked meals- Lee Pennington as well as Moroccan food through villa)
