this great young couple do what ever it takes to please people who want to stay there. he picked us up at housesteads and drove us back the next day to vindolanda, shame it was only one night we stayed there, his wife is a great cook, we had a great room with four poster bed, and little bathroom (basic) and they serve rekordelig cider or beer.

The young couple who run this must have put a lot of time and effort into making it such a comfortable place (based on reviews I read from a few years ago, at least), as it was a lovely stay. Very welcome after a tough, wet, and windy day coming over the Craggs. My friend and I had only enough energy to tackle a bowl of soup, but it was hot and delicious and went down very well. The room was comfortable and we had enough room to move about without tripping over each other. There is a separate bar area, a drying room, laundry and pick up/drop off service to the Steel Rigg Crag parking lot, where the Wall path runs. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked, both of which were good value.

We stayed two nights at Saughy Rigg as part of our Hadrian's Wall Walk and loved it! Saughy Rigg is located in beautiful countryside and the proprietors will collect you from Steel Rigg in the evening and drop you back in the morning, a service not to be dismissed lightly after tackling the Craggs! We were made to feel very welcome along with our two dogs. The room was lovely with good facilities but the best thing about Saughy Rigg was the food! Beautiful home cooked food, the evening meals are amazing, wonderfully presented and designed to feed hungry walkers! The breakfast menu is fantastic, I enjoyed the pancakes one morning and the vegetarian eggs benedict! Kath, Brad and their team are obviously working really hard to make people welcome well done! We would like to return for longer!

Stopped here whilst hiking hadrian's wall and only disappointment was that we couldn't of stayed here the whole time or for longer. Staff was excellent very welcoming and couldn't do more for you, like staying at a home away from home. Food was delicious not what you would expect from a B&B, even attention to detail on presentation. Wifi was good but didn't stretch as far to work in the rooms. Farm also has a separate bar area and living room. Staff also dropped us off to continue our walk the following day which was highly appreciated by tired legs! Overall would highly recommend - it will be your best stop on the walk.

Very welcoming. A little way off Hadrian's Wall Path (about 1 mile), but will pick up and drop off, we were braving out to walk it, but as they drove past they guessed we were on our way to Saughy Rigg Farm, so stopped and asked if we wanted a lift..... we caved in and accepted the lift.

There is no where nearby to eat if you haven't got a car, but that is fine as they cooked us an evening meal, which limited to a couple of choices, but was really good as well as being good value. There was also a small bar with a couple of beers and lager on tap. Ideal after a days walking! We had a good Full English breakfast to set us on our way in the morning.

There was a very spacious communal lounge area, but unfortunately our room was not as spacious, and quite basic, with a small en suite shower room.

There was free WiFi, but struggled to get coverage in our room. I am not sure the others had the same problems, but we had to go to the lounge to check the weather forecast on the internet.

The banister up the small set of stairs seems to stick out a little far, so watch that when going up with bags on your shoulder. Hooked me twice.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Saughy Rigg Farm and would recommend, but would try a different room to ours which I think was Room 1, first on the left up the stairs.
