We are a senior couple who travel frequently and stay in B &Bs whenever we can. Carrie and Malcolm have gone out of their way to make their home welcoming to their visitors. Our suite was at the top of the house - a large well appointed suite. Attention to detail was evident everywhere. The other rooms are spacious and also beautifully decorated and equipped for the comfort of the traveller. The guest lounge offered lovely views of the surrounding farm country. Carrie is an amazing chef and gave us delicious breakfasts each morning. Our hosts have a good knowledge of the island and were able to provide us with lots of info. We would love to return to this special place. A true PEI experience not to be missed!

Not only are the proprietors of Briarcliffe helpful and accommodating but we totally enjoyed the other guests we met. Briarcliffe is located on the Southwest part of PEI and is about 25 minutes from Summerside and 55 from Charlottetown. If you like being out in the country and driving everywhere, it's perfect. The B&B is a lovely older home with expansive grounds and a lovely country view. There is a pig farm (doesn't smell at all - the pigs are clean, fat, and happy) nearby and you can visit with them most days. A 10-minute walk to the intimate beach can be reached by a path cut through the wheat fields that leads to the beach lane. Carrie and Malcolm are hosts who understand and anticipate what their guests need and do everything possible to provide. They are friendly, knowledgeable and caring in every way and can cook too! We stayed for 5 nights at Briarcliffe over the Labor Day weekend, the end of the season. We expected that the house might be a bit tired but nothing could be further from that! The linens were clean and bright, the room was immaculate as was the entire home, with bright flowers and an immaculate lawn - everything looked new. We loved the little locally handmade soaps and amenities. We especially enjoyed the white board in the foyer where each room's guests were listed and where everyone left little messages - nice touch. There were plenty of maps and literature and as soon as we mentioned where we planned to travel, Malcolm produced appropriate maps and brochures to help us plan and travel. Their recommendations for area restaurants were excellent as well. We stayed in the smaller Leard room - that is better for someone short since the doorway to the en-suite bathroom is rather low.
Overall, Briarcliffe is one of the best B&Bs we've experienced and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet country setting in a pleasant home.

Carrie and Malcolm did an excellent job in making our stay at their place special.
Firstly, they are both very friendly and personable and made us feel very welcome.
The rooms were clean and very cozy.
It was so quiet there that we got the most amazing sleeps at night.
Carrie's cooking for both breakfasts was great. Both the egg frittata and the french toast the following day were excellent.
On the morning of Connie's birthday they had balloons at the breakfast table for her which was a very lovely extra touch.
There were some cute piggies from the neighboring farm that roamed happily in their enclosure and were eager to greet us.
All together it was a very enjoyable time spent here and we will definitely recommend to our family and friends! Thanks again!

Kids and I had a wonderful time. We had the top room on the third floor with two small beds for the kids, a comfy king for me, and a beautiful washroom. Very friendly staff and tasty breakfast. Kids liked feeding the pigs.

This B&B is a nice house in a beautiful farm setting, with very pleasant owners. The hosts were always pleasant and accommodating, trying their best to make for a nice stay.

The room itself was cozy, clean, and decent sized. The bathroom was quite small, but it worked well. Sleep quality was great, and although there was free wifi, it never worked for us. The grounds are nice and relaxing, and the 10 min. walk to the beach is a pleasant stroll. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay, with different dishes each day, all tasty and prepared with care.

A small downside for us was the isolated location. Although this can be relaxing, it also has disadvantages, like driving at least 30 minutes to get anywhere (to dinner, for example). I do realize this will not be an issue for everyone.

I would recommend this property, provided you are aware of its isolation.
