One wing deals with artifacts from excavated local tombs, including a 2000 yr old perfectly preserved male body. Another wing deals with weavings and some lost skills & techniques.

This small museum contains a really good collection of old bronzes and pottery, showing how advanced the Chinese culture was at a very early period. Worth a visit

I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but the 2000 year old, well preserved corpse is something to see! The rest is okay. Don't go out of your way.

This complex of museums doesn't have a whole lot to offer, but will pass an hour or so in Jingzhou. It's moderately air conditioned, which helps a little in the miserable summer heat. The main building was only half open in August 2016 and the focus is on bronze work. Behind the main building is the art centre, of which there are 3 rooms and requre a 20CNY entrance fee. It's not really worth it. It appears to be local artists and nothing of note. Behind the ornamental lake are further galleries which house silks and mumified remains of former residents and this is the highlight of the museum. Apart from the 'no need to see' art galleries, it's all free to enter.

The ceramic figures at the Jingzhou Museum are wonderful and the molds for these figures too. Pieces of ancient silk and also a few pieces of clothing are very well displayed. The amazing thing is the over 2000 year old mummy, a pink body that can be seen by looking down into a rectangular pit - looks like floating in something. Fascinating.
