The only Michelin's 2 star restaurants in the North-Picardie region is unlike any other of these kind of places. Located in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere, off the Calais-Paris highway its rustic tables don't sport any tablecloth or fancy silverware, and everything is focused on the food being served. It's style is rather "nouvelle cuisine", but nothing extravagant. We went for lunch and took the 9 courses tasting menu (that changes everyday) which was absolutely superb. Pair it with a wine sampler (50 € for 5 glasses), matched to the courses being served. You can ask them to share it, which is great for a lunch when you don't want to drink to much. We paid a total of 250€ for 2, which is really not expansive considering the food being served. Also atypical for this kind of place, it is very kids friendly. The international, polyglot staff is kindly, and really seems to love working there. In all, a great experience, will come back !

The restaurant is set up in a glass room surrounded by beautiful gardens on one side and the chef's open kitchen on the other, although the level of noise from the kitchen is not what one would expect, rather it is quiet and peaceful. The food is incredible. We ordered the tasting menu, each dish as beautiful and delicious as the last. The staff were very friendly and professional. Not a single thing to fault and worth the day trip from London especially for it. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

The food here has to be experienced to be believed. We had an 11 course tasting menu, and each course was imaginative, inventive and incredibly tasty, with very clever and skilful dishes served with great theatre by very friendly, unstuffy yet attentive staff. Highly recommended if you like a meal that you will remember for a long time.

I was just thinking of booking a repeat visit after dining at La Grenouillere 12 months ago, which prompted me to write a review here. I've been lucky enough to eat at some fantastic restaurants (Dinner, Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, Helen Daroze at the Connaught etc), and I would say my meal at La Grenouillere was up there with the best, We had the tasting menu with paired wines, and the experience was something else. Each course prepared with minute attention to detail, and just incredible flavours. The staff were kind, knowledgeable and funny, really couldn't fault them. The dining room is a bit dark, but the tables themselves are well lit. I thought the room was atmospheric and whilst the decorations and tableware are modern and "trendy", I didn't find it pretentious. Overall thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and will be returning. Not cheap with the tasting menu and wine, but nobody in our party of 6 felt that it was bad value considering what we had been served.
