Castello di Casole Private Estate & Spa

We spent 4 nights at the Castello this Aug and it was out of this world. The welcome we received was so warm and thoughtful and this level of luxury pampering continued the entire time we were there. First of all the grounds are spectacular, perched on a hill overlooking gorgeous countryside. The pool and patios has a perfect view of sunset that can't be missed. The location is adjacent to many "must see" spots in Tuscany. We made an easy day out of seeing San Gimignano and Voltaire and with the help of the hotel had one of our best meals of the trip at lunch in San Gimignano. We also went into Cole Val d'Else which was interesting and can easily be seen in a morning. The town is also knowen for making Crystal. We also took a day trip to Siena and the Chianti area and had a great time. The drive is breathtaking and should not be missed. As we were leaving we went through the Brunello region so got in all our winery stops in pretty close proximity.

The room was over the top. I had upgraded to the room when I booked but we were blown away at how luxurious our room and bathroom were. We had windows that overlooked the country side and our bathroom was HUGE with a lovely soaking tub and shower. The services like putting fresh bottles of water next to each side of the bed and making sure their were extra electrical converters were so thoughtful. Also being in Tuscany they made sure we had a bottle opener and wine glasses to enjoy our treasures from visiting the areas wineries. Every little detail had clearly been thought about.

We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and they surprised us with Prosecco in the room with was a lovely touch. But not even that but they knew us by name and kept wishing us happy anniversary at the front desk etc. Everyone really cared abuot making you feel welcomed.

The pool was glorious. It was a warm summer so sitting up on the hill looking at the countryside while enjoying a dip was amazing. The water is heating and perfect! There were a good amount of families with smaller children but this wasn't a problem. I actually would love to bring my kids back.

The choices in restaurants were fantastic. We ate at all three but didn't do room service. I think my favorite was the terrace and unfortunately it became too cold to sit outside the night we booked to go there but inside was lovely too. My husband loved the signature cocktail. (I think was an Old Fashioned or Manhattan)

All and all I can't say enough of this hotel. We stayed in 6 hotels while on a two week trip and this hotel was a highlight. I think the thing that sets them apart is how welcoming they are.

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms are amazing.

This was the surprise hotel of our one month honeymoon in Italy. We stayed for 2 nights in what I thought would be a lovely stop over on the way to Cinque Terre and Portofino from Florence. How I wished I had booked an entire week here.

First of all, it was the best welcome from staff we received out of the 10 hotels we visited. Everyone introduced themselves, were super friendly and informative and management was a constant presence in our time there.

We had a studio suite and it was the perfect size with a huge living room with couches and a work station, a large bedroom with the most comfy bed, a spacious ensuite with a separate stand alone tub and rainfall shower and finally a decent sized closet! One thing I really appreciated here that only one other hotel offered (Il Sereno at Lake Como) was the complimentary mini bar. Such a small thing but it really adds to the feeling of being home.

The property is beautiful and rustic but with every modern amenity you might want. The spa looked gorgeous and I will 100% be checking it out next summer. The views of the rolling Tuscan hills were stunning and I spent many hours at the beautiful infinity pool just admiring the scenery.

The food was absolutely amazing. An extensive breakfast buffet was served each morning with fresh juices, fruit, yogurt, meats, cheese, pastries as well as beautifully prepared egg dishes from the a la carte menu. The pizza, pasta and salads at night were among my favourite meals of the trip. Try the prawn salad and the diavolo pizza! Not to mention the delicious creme brûlée and gelato. The wine was, of course, delicious and you have to try the fresh peach bellinis before dinner. Everything was just YUM!

Above all, it was the staff that really made our stay here. I can't remember everyone's name but Fredrico (the manager) and Roberto (at the restaurant) stand out. Thank you for your hospitality and we will see you for a week next year!

Castello di Casole is a luxurious hotel, consistently rated among the best 50 hotels in the world. We booked an Olivetto one-bedroom suite. The suite was well appointed and comfortable, but it was a sizeable hike away from the hotel, which made it far from convenient. We enjoy walking but on our own terms, not as an obligation. The hotel should really provide a golf cart to guests staying in these suites. Views from the suites are also more confined than from the hotel. Food in the hotel restaurants is ok but not great. The service is excellent and friendly. On balance, Castello di Casole delivered a good but not outstanding experience.
