As high end sushi place it does everything right - excellent sushi with flawless technique. However a word of warning if you are not a huge sushi fan you wouldn't like this place (or any high end sushi omakase ) . You are better to spend your hard earned money to either Koko or Kappo.

Some of the best sushi I have had outside Japan. Yes, it is expensive but comparatively it is decent value for money. Watch the extra optional specials though- the two we had were very good but racked up the bill. The counter is very nice to sit at and the decor is very classy.

Probably the best sushi I’ve tried (and yes, I’ve visited Japan 20 times over the last 15 years). But....with matched sake and one of the additional “optional” courses, you are talking, a not inconsiderable, $400 per head.

Dinner at (No 44 in the world) Brae cost less. Dinner at (No 34 in the world) Attica cost less. Dinner at “seafood heavy” (No 17 in the world and 3 Michelin Star) Le Bernadin in NYC cost less. It’s bloody expensive...and I don’t think it’s quite worth it.

My partner and I dined here in December '17. It was absolutely outstanding. I had the paired sake and he had the paired wines - so glad we did, as both matches were sensational and we got to try many rare drops we never would have otherwise heard of. It was the perfect amount too - neither of us left feeling overly 'soused', nor too full of food - it was simply perfect in every way. We were satisfied, but neither too bloated nor drunk! Watching the chefs work was a privilege and we enjoyed every second of the experience. Clearly this is not the place for those who don't enjoy raw food, as every course of the Omakase is, essentially, served in its natural state. Goes without saying the seafood was divine. Melt in your mouth, glorious - you will not find fresher or better quality sashimi anywhere. Scallops, prawns, tuna belly, calamari, bonito, octopus, snapper and sand whiting all made an appearance, and every morsel was sensational. The room itself is lit beautifully and very simple - the food is the hero here, along with the incredible chefs who put it all together and present it so beautifully. We loved the experience here and, if we could afford it(!), would eat here regularly. I wouldn't suggest coming with a group and sitting off in one of the private rooms though, as the best experience is to be had at the counter, watching the chefs work. Ten out of ten from us.

Japanese cuisine at the highest end, edomae style sushi or Kaiseki, is an art form.
It takes practice and decades of training to perfect the simplest thing, washing rice, slicing fish, pressing rice eg.

Minamishima is Australia's best sushi and at $150 omakase, it's a steal. For people saying it's too expensive, the same amount of food & standard in Singapore is $210aud, 120-150pounds in UK, 180usd in NYC.

Do yourself a favour and educate yourself before visiting, don't be a country bumpkin and make a fool of yourself (ie. asking for no wasabi, leaving half eaten sushi back on the display plate.)
