Went for a dinner for two at the Athenian House while on holiday in Santorini. Hats off to the chef for the food quality and presentation. The treasure-hunt-type of quest to actually get there was daunting enough, but the scenery and the food experience blow all one's thoughts away!

My husband and I booked at the Athenian House few months before our visit. I actually booked this restaurant for my husband's birthday dinner and since we've seen so much good reviews, I didn't hesitate.

We we're staying probably 10 minutes (walk) away from the Restaurant, however we had a hard time looking for the restaurant and the weather was not the best that time. We ended up getting lost and soaking wet before we even arrived.

When we finally arrived, we sat inside the restaurant hoping that we can cool off, but there were no fans so we waited until we can manage to sit outside. We already started ordering and eating our appetizer and when we decided to move outside, the staff were nice enough to serve us a new and fresh order of The Athenian Fava which is by the way AMAZING!

For our mains, we ordered The Athenian Lamb Chop Moussaka and Organic Chicken Fillet. As expected on most fine dining, portions are not huge, however the taste were more sophisticated and luxurious. Lastly, for desert we ordered Greek Yogurt Mousse which was another of our favorites.

I could say, it was a really nice experience especially when everyone was quiet whilst watching the sun set. It was amazing seeing everyone including myself all loved up and happy. They even gave us a small present (key chain) to take home!

PS:
One thing that was annoying though was their music. Believe it or not, they only have 1 song playing the whole time. It was playing in our heads even after we left.

Do NOT waste your money here. My husband and I decided to go here for our first night to celebrate. Even though we saw the prices were expensive, we thought it may be worth it for a good experience. We are well traveled foodies and enjoy a great meal.

This place was a huge disappointment. Started with an amuse bouche that tasted disgusting. Then, a server came around offering fresh slices of bread and we gladly accepted. Turns out, when we got the bill - each SLICE was 3 Euro each!!! What a scam, they said nothing about the price and it didn't even taste good. Ridiculous.

The worst part had to be the laughably small entree portions. My husband got the lamb and we literally laughed out loud at how small it was. Same for my shrimp pasta dish, it had two tiny shrimp pieces - for that price, I'd expect at least two jumbo size shrimp.

Service was good and the sunset views were nice. However, don't go here just for the views, there were tourists on a small path right next to the restaurant that had just as good of a view. Do NOT waste your time or money here.

We ate at this fine restaurant, and I could say we left not impressed. Food at such a pricey restaurant did not excite us and other customers at the restaurant complained about the small portions.
The Athenian baklava (desert) should be avoided from persons with sensitive teeth, as this dish is crispy but too hard, probably because of the caramel.
In my opinion, this gourmet restaurant lacks behind the Kapari gourmet restaurant, a few corners away.
Hope the team of Athenian to offer us more exciting and bigger portions next time.
Overall, a good experience and the staff very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderfu dinner here on June 4. The view of the caldera and the sunset is phenomenal. The food was equally wonderful! We each had the same tasting menu, however they were nice enough to allow me to substitute my dessert preference which was featured on the other tasting menu. We started our meal with a lovely tartare featuring delicious fresh fish. Next we enjoyed a very tasty dish that featured a slow cooked octopus with black lentils and avocado from Crete. This was garnished with lavender honey and foam. Our next course was a delicious lobster orzo in a bisque with fresh olive oil and saffron. For dessert my wife had a very tasty Greek yogurt mousse with fresh vanilla and marinated fruits. She said this was an indescribable Greek yogurt that you would never be able to experience anywhere else. I was able to enjoy their signature baklava. This was a truly unique and tasty dish. This is not the traditional baklava that you know....it is even better! It starts with crispy phyllo and is joined by peanut butter, salted caramel and pistachio's. Three letters would desribe this dish ... OMG!!!

Great service + awesome views + a wonderful sunset + a fabulous meal = Top notch! We came from Oia and it was well worth it!
