We chose Anastasis mainly on the back of the reviews we had read on Trip Advisor and I am pleased to say we were not disappointed. Anastasis is the most gorgeous place and was perfect for our honeymoon.

We stayed in the Anastasis suite which is split level. It was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The best bit was the balcony which was on the top floor and had magnificent views of the caldera and the sunset - especially from the hot tub!!

The pool area was very clean and relaxing. This is not the place to stay if you want to have a wild time - its all about relaxation and Despina makes sure of that. Whilst we were by the pool, water was brought to us regularly by the very friendly staff.

The Anastasis team are ready to cater for your every need and are always ready to help without being in your face. If you call reception and ask for something it is delivered within two minutes maximum. Irini and Ann Marie made sure of that! They are very helpful and full of knowledge about Santorini. You can ask them anything and they will have the answer. The recommendations that they gave us for restaurants were also spot on.

I cannot write this review without mentioning the suprises that await you at Anastasis - I wont tell you what they are as it will spoil it but they are better than anything you will have read on Trip Advisor!

Anastasis is a lovely place to stay and I would recommend it to anybody. We will definately go back!

You walk in with very high expectations and leave with them well met. Despina and her staff take care of everything for you such as dinner reservations, car rentals, snacks, drinks, breakfast, etc. This is how vacation or holiday is meant to be. A previous reviewer brought up valid negatives here such as the cold pool, cameras all over, rules, etc. To be fair, most pools, if not all in Santorini are not heated and the cameras allow her staff to be there when you need it, not to spy on you. The only minor complaint I had was I could not run jacuzzi past 9 pm but this is because peace and tranquality is what Anastatis Apartments is all about.

One day, my wife and I decided to do the 5 mile hike to Oia. My wife halfway through didnt feel well. We called reception and Irini came to pick us up with a smile on her face!

We hated the crowded towns of Oia and Fira and loved the remoteness of this hotel. They offer you free transfers to local places and if schedule permits even take you to Firostefani. My wife and I had the best 7 days of our honeymoon here and it's never been more evident because we are in Mykonos now and it's the the same.

We spent the last nights of our honeymoon at The Anastasis Suites and it really does live up to and exceed all comments left on trip Advisor. The hotel itself is immaculate, with stunning views and excellent service - nothing is too much trouble and every day and night we were provided with little surprises which made our stay really special (not saying any more or it won't be a surprise but you will be impressed!). Despina, Anna Marie and Irini were the perfect hosts and please don't be concerned about the hotel's location - if you can bear to drag yourself away from your room then there are several lovely restaurants within walking distance - The Pantheon, Tasas (a local taverna), and many others in nearby Imerovigli, just a short walk away. Even if the walk is too much trouble, Anastasis will deliver food to your balcony up until 8pm and transfers are easily arranged and not too expensive. The first three nights of our honeymoon were spent in Oia, just around the corner, and whilst this too deserves its excellent reputation, Imerovigli is just that little quieter, more romantic, and less expensive. Truly a dream come true and we can't wait to go back. Please do not hesitate to visit Anasasis - it really does deserve its place as Number 2 in the world on trip Advisor. We will never forget this honeymoon.

...And one cannot really call it a hotel. As with everybody else who has shared their feelings and thoughts about the Anastasis, I was "gently" overwhelmed by its brilliance. I say gently because I have never felt so at ease and relaxed while on vacation. And this, at the same time as having so much fun and sharing so many smiles. Each one of the staff were excellent. I say well done to the owners, who obviously hand-picked each one of their team, with careful attention and consideration. These folks work so well together, strategically, happily cunning, so we the guests never feel amiss. And again, with gentle gloves.
The view...truly stunning and unbelievable until you witness your first. And then second, third, fourth...each night was a treat. Especially those from the hot tub! In fact, not one night did we leave the property for a dinner out. Why would we leave, it was too fantastic!

Throughout our daily walks into Fira, we noticed many gorgeous hotels and apartments, and could not help but to smile with glee and gratitude that we were still obviously at the cream of the crop.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the talented and caring team of Anastasis! Well done Despina...hope to see you all again next season!!

You may be thinking "What's so special about this place for it to garner such high rankings on TripAdvisor and so many gushy reviews from people?" Do yourself the favor and drink the Koolaid like the rest of us - go stay at the Anastasis Apartments, and Despina and her talented staff will show you exactly why. You have to be there to fully appreciate the feel and tranquility of their place - it truly is a special and magical setting. My wife and I stayed there in October of 2009 and we STILL talk about our 3 nights at Anastasis Apartments! We travelled to Mykonos and Athens AFTER visiting Santorini and the Anastasis Apts completely ruined how we felt about the other places we stayed at afterwards. I haven't been at top hotel chains such as the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton etc but I'm not a country bumpkin either. I find it very hard to believe that other places can compare to the incredibly high standards set by Despina. We had 3 nights and 3 days on Santorini and we wished we had booked a longer stay just so we could spend more time just lounging and relaxing at the apartments.

We arranged through Despina to be picked up at the airport, and when we arrived, we were immediately and warmly greeted. We then had a short 15min orientation with Despina while enjoying a small glass of wine. Then we were brought to our room. No words can describe the view looking out past the infinity pool and out to the caldera. Despina's husband kindly offered us a ride to a convenience store so that we could buy toiletries since our luggage didn't make the flight with us. What normally would be a cause for stress and inconvenience didn't even register with us since we were so stunned into speechlessness with the view. We had dinner at the restaurant just down the road from Anastasis Apts - it was perfectly enjoyable casual fare.

We had breakfast the next morning which arrived very shortly after we woke up and poked our heads outside (they have cameras on the grounds from which they can tell when guests are sitting outside). It was wonderful to sit down in front of our room and enjoy the view (again) and eat a tasty continental breakfast. It was pretty substantial fare - we weren't hungry again until mid-afternoon. Despina arranged for us to rent a car which we used to get our luggage at the airport and then drive into the extremely charming and picturesque town of Oia. She also suggested a restaurant in Oia for dinner and made a reservation for us. At night, we came back to the Apts and enjoyed the nighttime view.

Just beyond the infinity pool is a wide dirt road - if you go right, you can take a very long walk to Oia. If you turn left, you'll head into downtown Imerovigli and then onto Fira. We hiked the latter the next day - it's a bit long but doable if reasonably healthy and patient. If memory serves, it took us 40 minutes to walk to Fira. While on this walk we quickly appreciated the serenity and tranquility of being away from the hustle and bustle of Fira. Since it is where cruise ships dock for Santorini, Fira can be extremely crowded and hectic. While Oia was crowded with tourists too, it still retained charm and quaintness. Fira was just plain 'ol crowded. But we went there since Despina had recommended a very nice multi-hour boat cruise to us - we were on a large motorized sailing ship that took us around the caldera - we stopped at the tiny crater island in the middle of the caldera and well as the other island opposite of Santorini that makes up the other side of the caldera. Then we cruised around Oia, just in time to watch a beautiful sunset. Thanks to Despina for making the wonderful suggestion - it was well worth the money.

But back to the Apartments - every night we felt it was a treat to return to such peacefulness and beauty, and again, to the wonderful caldera view. I spent hours each day or night just sitting poolside staring out at that view. I got the sense that most guests spend only a night or two on Santorini before venturing to other islands. When planning our trip, I thought a 3 night stay would be more than enough. Honestly, I wish we had stayed on Santorini longer just so we could spend a day just lounging at the Apts and enjoy the scenery instead of sightseeing.

Every guest is scheduled for at least one private session on the upper patio area to watch a sunset in a hot tub with some champagne and soft music. Despina schedules this with you in advance when you check in, and it really is a wonderful experience that shouldn't be missed. It's unfortunate that you can't go up there at other times of the day, but perfectly understandably - everyone is entitled to their own private sunset hot tub session, and it kills the mood if people need to be asked to leave the patio before the sunset, or if other guests are coming up to use the hot tub after the sunset. Because of that, I completely understand why they rope that area off all the time. Besides, the pool is a wonderful area to relax! (it is not heated though, so don't spend too long in the water!)

Anastasis Apts is a serene and quiet place to relax and soak in the view. I think Despina and her staff are able to provide such a high level of service partly because the Apts is a small setting - there can't be more than 16 rooms to the place. The other reason is because Despina is tireless in her efforts to provide for her guests every need, and her staff just mirrors her attitude and behavior. I always noticed members of the staff constantly cleaning and tending to the grounds, thereby keeping everything immaculate. Yet they were never intrusive, just available to provide you with the occasional cool face towel or glass of water if you were sunning yourself.

Our stay at Anastasis Apts was the highlight of our Greece vacation and a once in a lifetime memory. Everywhere I have traveled since has been compared to Despina's wonderful place, and all of them have fallen well short of her standards. If you desire a "scene" or active nightlife/bar-hopping/clubbing experience, this is not the place for you. For simple elegance and beauty combined with world class service, this place cannot be beat!

Room Tip: Make room arrangements more than 5 months in advance, ask to stay on the 2nd Flr facing the caldera.
