Came to Mallaig with my wife for a day trip, pre booked lunch at the cornerstone as previous reviews suggested it could be busy when the 'Harry Potter' train arrives in town...glad we did as the lunch we had was sublime!
We both ordered the calamari which was the best we have enjoyed for years, perfectly cooked, tender and delicious, served with a simple side salad & a lovely sweet chilli dip.

Main courses were Thai monk fish curry for me & fish and chips for my wife. All I can say about my curry is it was faultless... Beautifully spiced, plenty of firm meaty monk fish, accompanied by light fluffy rice with toasted cashews...I've never had a better fish curry,(and I'm a chef).

My wife's fish and chips were just as good, beautiful flaky fillet of battered haddock, generous portion of hand cut chips...doesn't come any better.

The staff were friendly, efficient, and service was fast but equally unhurried.

The restaurant was cool, (it was one of the hottest days in years!) and our window table had a lovely view over Mallaig's little inner harbour.

We can't recommended the Cornerstone enough...if you find yourself in Mallaig try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Thank Chris A

Arrived in Mallaig on the Friday evening train. We did not have reservations and we didn't realize how small and quaint this little upstairs restaurant is. They were nice enough to squeeze us in and we enjoyed a nice dinner of seafood and a burger. Friendly staff and good service.

It is easy to miss out on this restaurant because it does not have a ground floor but it is worth the effort to climb the few stairs and get a really nice view of the harbour.
The service from the extremely friendly staff was excellent as was the meal. Nothin to beat the taste of newly caught fish

By far and away, the best fish and chips in Mallaig. Quite excellent fish. Quite excellent chips. Pleasant friendly service. Very reasonably priced. Coped well when eight of us rocked in at a busy time. Really nice owner gave us lots of helpful local information. Will definately be back.

This was an excellent find, as coming of the heritage steam train, along with serval hundred others, all looking for lunch on a rainy day, any restaurant would have done, but Cornerstone provided an excellent meal, fine choice of fish and a good range of house wines and excellent service. Suggest book in advance.
