Arrived here for a beautiful lunch with friends from the Halifax area. After a scenic chatty drive we were hungry for some local fare and Rhubarb did not disappoint! Amazing cozy setting and reasonable prices. Friendly fast service and outstanding tasty food. We ordered chowder, sarnies and salad and all agreed the portions were generous, fresh and yummy! Would not hesitate to recommend. Took the remaining loop drive back to the city and it made a wonderful day trip.

Been here a few times as it is sort of local to us. Fish and Chip seems great and the fish is real and fresh. However the gluten free batter has left myself and wife feeling sick the last 2 times. Fish and chip or baked haddock. Not sure why it has to be gluten free but it is a sacrifice of taste in this case. Really like it in the winter when the summer crowd is gone.

Thank Art J

A friend and I were "following our noses" on a drive towards Peggy's Cove when we happened upon Rhubarb Restaurant. Neither of us had been there before and we were feeling a bit adventurous. We decided to stop for lunch. The hostess was down-home friendly and able to fully describe the dishes, so my friend had a Caesar salad with her all meat pizza, while I chose a roasted beet salad with a seed-encrusted goat's cheese and a cup of squash soup. The portions were generous and the food was full of interesting flavours and textures! Delicious.

I don't generally have dessert with lunch but we "had to" try the Rhubarb cake. The kitchen divided one for us to be sure we would share equally, the hostess shared with a grin. Good thing they did! We both loved it!

We highly recommend Rhubarb and will return to try more specialties.

Outside the city of Halifax this is one of the best restaurants in Nova Scotia. On one day we travelled over 600 kilometres in a circular tour, all the time looking for a good restaurant in which to eat lunch and dinner and found nowhere that came up to the standard of Rhubarb. We first ate here over two years ago and I was really pleased to see that not only was it still operating in a notoriously transient industry given how short the Nova Scotian summer season is but Rhubarb seems to be thriving and has capitalised on it’s position and is obviously very popular with both locals and tourists.

We ate there three times during our stay; a family party, an evening meal for two and then again for Thanks Giving – all three occasions were excellent.

The chowder was packed full of fresh fish, the fish and chips is delicious and the Turkey Dinner followed by Pumpkin Pie was excellent.

Out on the terrace at the back of the restaurant is a great place to settle down with an aperitif whilst watching the spectacular sunsets. One big difference about Rhubarb is the combination of style and good food. There are other restaurants in the area but these are more like ‘Diners’ whereas Rhubarb, with it’s paintings by local artists and beautiful views has a stylish feel which we prefer when eating out.

It may be some time before we return to Nova Scotia but I hope this restaurant continues to go from strength to strength…
