Description: We believe in keeping our food mileage low, utilising the abundant produce in the area and working with both local farmers and the seasons to showcase what the Granite Belt has to offer. We support free range and sustainable farming practices, as well as organic where possible, and have given ourselves a strict three hour radius in which to source our produce - if we cannot get something within this radius, we simply do not use it. We allowed three hours so we were able to reach Ballina for seafood, however most things are coming from much closer to home. Currently our pork, tomatoes and garlic come from within minutes of the restaurant. Because we use such local produce, for the most part we are unable to order in cuts of meat, so meat comes to us as whole beasts, if not delivered by the farmer who raised and slaughtered it, then by the butcher who did. For this reason, you will notice our mains will often feature a cut of meat as well as a braise so we can utilise and pay homage to the whole animal. Everything possible is produced in house including the bread, cultured cream and butter and we like to feature wild foraged ingredients on our menu. We welcome you warmly to The Barrelroom and hope you can appreciate the effort we put into designing a menu that is not only delicious, but mindful, clever and above all, respectful of the produce we utilise.

We were delighted with our lunchtime visit. Fortunately we had booked as many people were being turned away so highly recommend booking if you are planning to dine here. The service was friendly and efficient from start to finish. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. Three of our group of 4 had red claw yabbies for entrees while the remaining diner had crumbed cauliflower. The yabbies were perfectly cooked and very tasty with the brioche. Our friend enjoyed the cauliflower.
There was a nice break before our main meals arrived. Two of us had venison, one had kangaroo tail and another had the mutton. We shared sides of potato and greens. All meals were beautifully presented and came with their own sides. Both venison meals were cooked so it melted in the mouth and my husband's kangaroo was delicious. Our friend raved about the mutton. The sides were very tasty and we were disappointed that we were unable to eat more of them but the meals were so large that we were only able to sample them. Only one of our group had enough room for dessert. Of course all the wines on the menu are from Ballandean Estate. We particularly enjoyed the Rose. We can't wait to return to this restaurant.

After a morning of wine tasting we had been recommended to visit the barrel room at Ballandean, we were not disappointed. The waitress was friendly and funny, the drinks were of course great, but the food was exceptional. Some warm fresh bread, pate, yabbies and beef of incredible quality. We were not rushed and loved our lunch experience. In fact we bought some of the wine we had at lunch from the cellar door afterwards. We heard it can be busy but from our visit we recommend trying it.

A fantastic atmosphere, superb service and a menu that is second to none! Highly recommend the cauliflower entree and the chicken main meal - all I can say is WOW! This is a must if you are visiting the area!

As a group of ten we booked lunch at the Barrel Room. The ambience is lovely and our meals were delicious. Equivalent to Brisbane prices but followed through with great technique and flavours. The favourite at our table was the kangaroo tail. Would recommend eating here.

My husband and I had the 7 course degustation with matching wines. The food was absolutely delicious and can't wait to do it again! Portions for each course are generous so take your appetite.
