The hotel design is beautiful, but the dining experience that I encountered was terrible.

On my second day’s dinner, I went to a table that was not placed “reserved”, but the server stoped me saying it was reserved for someone else and led me to a smaller table in a more awkward location.

The plate given to me was dirty, with bread crumbs inside. I asked the server to change the plate, and he did so without any apologies.

No one asked me whether I needed water: their only service focus was serving the white couple sitting next to me. I doubted whether the server in this hotel discriminate against Chinese people.

The meal was more disappointing than the service. The chicken with coconut milk soup comes with weird parts, mostly bones and skin instead of meat.

The most surprising and unbelievable part of the dining experience was breakfast. The hotel said that the breakfast opens at 7am. When I came at 7, however, the door was still locked. I managed to find someone to open the door, only finding that the breakfast was totally unprepared. All hot plates were empty. Hotel staff said that the meal needed extra 15 minutes to be ready, but I did not have time to wait that long, since I needed to go to the airport. As a result, I could only have some fruits for my breakfast.

Given the terrible dining experience I encountered in this hotel, I would not recommend it to anyone.

This was a very positive surprise. I had a lake view room, not a real “wagon” but a perfect copy.
The IC Khao Yai is a new, small hotel in terms of number of rooms but a big one in terms of beauty, design and space.
Not overly expensive, given what you get.
Thailand is full of ‘pseudo-5-star’ hotels and this hotel is a real “luxury boutique” hotel (Boutique in lack of a better term). Not the star rating but the extraordinary design and the landscapes are what intrigued me. Breakfast and pool are areas and service are very good and the “bento style” room service is excellent. Just later I found out that I had stayed in several Bill Bensley designed properties already and this one is really noteworthy.
An afterthought: I think that it is not easy to get there if you do not have access to a car and this will be a problem for many foreigners (not for me, though). Maybe the hotel could create a package like “transport from Bangkok+accommodation+national park//water falls//wineyards”. But then I am not in a position to know if that is too complicated or even unnecessary.

Frist of all the Design By Bill Bensleys you know you are already in for an amazing design. Wonderful staff great service. Breakfast variety is awesome very retro with charcoal grill. Property situated on an amazing Swan lake as the name suggests many swan. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity this is the place for you. Also try their dining option you wont be disappointed
