This is our twelth year at this fantastic Hotel run by the Tippotsch family.
The quality of accommodation and hospitality is second to none and the food is of a very high standard.
We recommend booking a suite well worth the extra
The week we book includes 6 days Skiing on the Hintertux Glacier

The hotel is on the Zillertal (Ziller valley) which is a great ski area. Not only that the mountains around are great, but the valley ends with the Hintertux glacier, which is a) a great place for skiing and b) a very good insurance if there isn't enough snow on the mountains around the valley.
The ski pass covers the entire valley + glacier and includes the bus fare.
The hotel has very nice and comfortable rooms decorated in a very elegant style. As always in the Austrian hotels, everything is VERY clean with a GREAT breakfast, and for Tiroler Hof this is especially true, with a wide selection of cereals, breads, meats and cheese, fruits and juices, plus an omelet / pancake station. Dinner is also very nice, gourmet style, if a bit too fancy for my taste. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
However, if you go mainly for skiing, the hotel is NOT within walking distance of a ski lift. This means that you either have a car, or you rely on the bus service (which is very good). The bus stops in either directions (up / down the valley) are pretty close (the one down valley is just across the street, the one up the valley to the glacier is about 200m up the road). If you go to the Rastkogelbahn lift (1 stop down the valley) the bus is a very good option, as parking around the ski lift is problematic. If you want to go to the glacier, the bus ride is about 20 min, but the bus can get VERY crowded, especially on the way back, and if you're going with kids, you're better of going by car. So there are definitely better locations if you're an avid skier.
Also the dinner was way too fancy for my taste and took very long, which is ok if you enjoy spending 2 hrs around the dinner table, but if you're like me and just want to eat something decent and be done with it, and then spend the rest of the evening doing something else, you may find the whole experience very boring. My kids got pretty restless during this whole elaborate dinner process - so they left for the kids room (which is not great, but ok) at the lower floor and we called them back to the table when the next dish was served.
Bottom line is that if you are there mainly for skiing, you have better / cheaper options, but if skiing is not your main thing and instead appreciate a sophisticated (and long) dinner, Tiroler Hof is a very good option.

As soon as you walk into this beautiful family-run hotel in Tux, opposite a bus stop to Hintertux you realize this is a place much loved by its owners. Our room was a suit with large bedrooms and separate WC, shower room and bathroom. But although this hotel is well appointed with great staff it is the food which really makes it stand out from other establishments.
The breakfast is both varied and generous, with an omelette station to supplement the wide selection of breads, cereals, juices, fruit, meats and cheeses. Even better were the dinners which as well as some excellent meat-based dishes included at least two vegetarian options each night which went down well with the veggies in our group.
The sauna is as good as any you will see although there is no pool or jacuzzi. The cost came to less that e100 per night which is remarkably good value.

This is why we come to Austria to ski, a great friendly welcome and the most attentive staff.
Most rooms are really very large suites that are so tastefully decorated in a very restrained elegant style. Superb breakfast, delightful afternoon treats, and a gourmet 5 course meal came with the hotel stay, no need to put your coat on and go out and look for dinner. We cant wait to go back!

Room tip: Some rooms are in a more modern style, some are in an equally beautiful more traditional style. If you have a preference you should let them know when you book.

Me and my 5 years-old son stayed in this hotel by the end of January 2013 for 5 days for skiing. First of all Tux area is a great place to ski.. Anyways, the hotel was very nice with large rooms, the service was good, breakfast was great. There is a sauna in the hotel, I didn't use it but I've checked it, it looked very nice. The choices at the breakfast are plenty. We never had dinner there but it looked nice too. There is a small kids play room, not a great one but it's ok. We mostly went to skiing in Rastkogel because of my son's ski school, so we took the free busses (you pay 1 euro after around 18:00) to the direction of Raskogel and also to Hintertux, very efficient.

The only down side I can say was the TV in our room (#117), it was an old one but hey, we didn't go there to watch TV all day.. And they definately should use better pillows, these were small and very thin..

Overall we liked the hotel, I can recommend it to everyone.
