I believe we were served up reef fish - large tangs. It seems here in guadeloupe, there is very indiscriminate fishing practices, and in turn, restaurant practises. In fact, while snorkeling, I watched a local spear-fisher go by with a queen angel on his ring of fish, which also included a couple of gorgeous trigger fish. I was sickened when I saw this as the numbers of reef fish - especially large - is sadly tragically low and worsening.
The fish we had was a black tang looking fish and as can be imagined, it amounted to about 2 ounces of fish in the steak served from the menu as 'grilled fish' as well as the realization of what we just ate - it all didn't sit well. The sides were horrible, and the service was lacking.
Would never waste my money here again.

The restaurant is located next to the market, before Fond de curė beach. The place is by the sea, a small restaurant with approximately 10/12 tables... So booking is hardly recommended. If you want to taste langouste do not forget to ask when booking your table to be sure to have it and choose the weight.

For the Americans, think of Pieds Dan L'eau as a greasy spoon by the sea. Don't get the fancy stuff and be ok with brisk service. The court-boullion was good and the grilled fish was fine. There was a pumpkin (?) gratin if I remember right that was tasty. The dirty rice was dry but that's how that it tends to be. For the water front places it's a bit cheaper so the price is fair (still "expensive" like everything else on the island, but cheaper than the nicer places). When we went at lunch the frigatebirds and pelicans were diving for lunch in the bay, which was entertaining. It was also a cloudless day so the view was clear to the top of La Grande Soufrière too.

Great location & worth a visit for that but stick with a coffee & dessert. I went for the "menu" & it just went from bad to worse. The boiled boudin was cold & flavourless. The fish with the main course was rubbery & also flavourless. I traded my dessert for a coffee & waited for way too long a time for that to arrive. From being seated to the first food arriving was exactly one hour. It didn't matter on this occasion but be wary if you're on a schedule. My dining companions were similarly disappointed, the lobster was as rubbery as my fish & watching her try to pry the meat from the shell was entertainment by itself. The battered cod pieces were dark brown (an overdue oil change?) & reportedly unpleasant.
All in all, a very poor dining experience. The cost was inline with expectations for the French family members but a little pricey for the Canadians in the group, particularly given the quality. Desserts are predominantly from a local ice cream manufacturer & those aren't bad at all.
There are far better options on the island, we would give this place a miss next time.

Ideal spot for a lunch stop - fairly basic small restaurant with friendly service, right next to the sea, great view across the bay, pelicans and some welcome shade. There’s also a really handy pontoon next to the restaurant to tie your tender to. There are not that many tables available and most were reserved at lunchtime as well. So either book ahead or leave it to luck.

Had the accras for starter, which was not the best we had in the Caribbean, but certainly not the worst either. Then had the grilled fish as a main – fish was nicely cooked and not overdone (as can happen with grilled fish).

Nice place for lunch when you want something quite simple in a relaxed atmosphere. Dishes were also cooked fresh so service is leisurely rather than slow. Not quite good enough for Very Good rating, but certainly above average and worth giving a go. Probably pay a bit more for the food, but the setting and view is worth it.
