We were on a family adventure tour group and stayed here for two nights and an extra after the tour was over. Located on the beach in a large development made to look like a Pueblo (seemed more European to me).

The hotel lobby is beautifully and tastefully decorated, great bar and friendly staff. The drinks are fantastic, I tried many and my favorite was the Rum Guanacastello. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. The rooftop pool is small, but enjoyable (not family friendly because of the drop at the edge of the pool).

There are two restaurants connected of the hotel and both are good. The Italian one makes really good handmade pastas, do eat here.

One improvement I would suggest to the property is a foot bath near the entrance to wash one’s feet of the sand from a day at the beach.

Room tip: The development the hotel is on is still a work in progress. There’s a few shops and restaurants, but not many.

Had a wonderful time! I was worried before arrival reading some of the reviews but i think people forget this is a four start hotel, but a very good one at that. If you are looking for the Four Seasons experience, this is not that but neither is the price/night …you can’t have it both ways or hold them up to a 5 star resort experience or expectation. The hotel is unique in that it is situated within the town of Las Catalinas so its not a resort but part of small very quaint and walkable town with such beautiful architecture. Check-in was great and the front desk staff were always super nice and accommodating. It is true there is no coffee maker or ice but the staff was always great whenever we needed something. The beach is public and can be a bit more crowded on the weekend but we always found a spot for a great day at the beach. Sunsets are amazing. Again if you are expecting hotel lounge chairs and beach service, you’ve booked the wrong hotel and you shouldn’t give a poor review bc of this (although there is a great rental store on the beach with chairs, lattes, ice cream, drinks, etc). We had great food, service, beds are amazing, and yes the breakfast got tired after the first week with only 3 selections with breakfast included option but there is a bakery and grocery store you can walk to that makes amazing smoothies to mix things up. This hotel is situated within the town so there is some construction but it was no where near as bad as people described in my opinion. Once you settle into the rhythm of Costa Rican life and the charm this beautiful town and hotel possesses, you will have a great time. For a four star hotel I give it 5 stars and look forward to coming back!

I wish I would have read the reviews before booking my last 2 nights here. The concept of the Las Catalinas area is definitely not your true Costa Rican culture, so go there with that in mind. Most of the employees are very nice. The food was good and the salt water pool is nice. The beds are comfortable and there are great hiking trails near by. Our showers were cold and there is no coffee before 7:00. This is a problem for me because I am an early riser and like to drink coffee before breakfast. When I asked for coffee at 6:00, they told me no. There are no robes, no ice buckets, no coffee machines in the room, and just no true culture. There is a lot of construction all over the area, so it just feels unfinished and the vibe is strange. It is not ecofriendly in that all of the shampoos etc. are in the tiny bottles which are replaced daily (huge waste). I am not sure I will ever go back and won't recommend it, unfortunately.

Room tip: Bring a coffee maker and go to the roof top pool for sunset.

For the price paid - worst value ever - better in a motel 6
Architecture is beautiful - good colour scheme
But and nobody can deny these facts
No fridge, coffee machine, mini bar, bath robes , not even a glass - i had to ask twice to get a glass brought to my room - poor breakfast - no exercice room either -
Construction noises too - no possible cancellation either - so i am forced to stay here for five days !
This is awful and totally objective

If you're looking for a relaxing escape, look elsewhere. The rooms aren't soundproof, and with insanely loud construction going on directly downstairs, and on the grounds in multiple locations surrounding the hotel, it's impossibly noisy. Add in the clanging/banging kitchen noises that travel up to the rooms and it's not possible to rest in this hotel. The fast construction vehicles on the narrow windy road also almost killed us in a near-miss head-on collision. What's worse: the hotel NEVER WARNED US about the construction. We checked out after only one night since it was a stressful, awful experience and this was not fun for our vacation. The hotel refused to give us a refund for the rest of our stay when we told them we couldn't stay since it was too loud to rest, and our booking site also intervened, but the hotel still refused. Truly awful management.

The architecture of the place is pretty, but everything else about it falls way short - even if there weren't construction, it's still not a good value for the money since they just kind of phone it in and don't get any details right. The rooms are bare - no artwork on the walls, no coffee maker, no refrigerator, no bottles of water, not even a single water glass in the room. The restaurants are not very good, and the amenities - such as the two run-down beach couches, are disappointing. Super overpriced hotel. Very isolated too, yet very crowded. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel.

Room tip: Avoid this hotel. It's awful
