A special location, surrounded by a green yard and a terrace overlooking the sea and the mountain. Not exactly in the center of Tsagkarada village, but you can reach the central square and the "tavernas" area in just 30-45 minutes walk.
Very good location for walking or driving to the main beaches in the area: Mylopotamos (walk ~ 1 h, drive 10 min), Fakrista ( walk ~ 30 m, drive ~ 5 min), Damouchari ( walk ~ 1,5 h, drive 20 min via Mouresi), Limniona ( drive ~ 20 min ).
The rooms are very cozy, elegant, furbished with very high quality materials ( from windows' wood to bath equipment, from bed lingerie to bath cosmetics ).
The breakfast is very healthy, tasty and generous (more like a brunch ), including a lot of fresh products from the guesthouse garden.
The landlords - Filaretos and Marianna - are very kind, very interesting people ( we loved our conversations on different subjects ) and they gave us good advise on the region, places to visit or restaurants.
One night we had dinner at the location. It was a great idea since we spent a wonderful and relaxing time. Many thanks to Marianna for the great funghi porcini risotto and many thanks to Filaretos for the delicate dish consisting in "amanita caesarea" mushrooms cooked in wine.
I would also recommend to pick up some gifts for you or for friends, from their selection of delicious house-made products, like jams, chutneys, digestives.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- AMANITA is situated in a truly privileged location between mountain and sea on the eastern slopes of Mt. Pelion in the genteel village of Tsangarada in the Prefecture of Magnesia, Greece. Behind it soars Mt. Pelion, ancient home of the Centaurs; a mountain much sung of; a mountain where the trees cast deep shade and countless springs bubble forth. Gazing outwards from the Guesthouse one sees the blue of the Aegean Sea, spotted with the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonnissos. All around is the verdant countryside of Tsangarada with its renowned paths, centuries old trees, old stone fountains and bridges.AMANITA is a beautifully restored old mansion of the 19th century. The AMANITA Guesthouse consists of two buildings: the three-storey main house and a two-storey outhouse. We offer 6 accommodation options, 5 of which are located in the main house (2 suites consisting of 2 rooms, 1 three-bed room and 2 double rooms), and a self-contained, fully fitted 2-room apartment with its own kitchenette in the outhouse. The main house has two sitting areas, a breakfast room and a professional kitchen. We attach great importance to local cuisine. That's why our famous breakfast that we serve includes hand-kneaded bread, home-made jam and local specialities such as pies and herby omelettes. ... more less
