Everything was perfect! –
I absolutely loved Doonbeg – I had gone with mixed feelings – not quite knowing what to expect – it was all amazing !
Firstly the photos do not do it justice – the setting and scenery are magnificent,- I would reiterate everything in the previous reviews - the food was divine, the rooms were gorgeous – so comfortable and well equipped. Lovely hot showers and beautiful amenities.
I do not actually play golf but went with friends that did- they loved the golf course, but that didn't mean I was bored, there is plenty to do in the area and if you like walking the area is stunning - even in the middle of winter.
I particularly loved all of the public areas in the hotel – all the little nooks and crannies that you discovered and could sit in and relax – I just needed longer to make the most of them! The restaurant and bar were great
I think the best memory will be of being in my lovely cosy room looking out at the magnificent coast, with the wind howling, and the waves lashing against the beach and feeling so very safe and well looked after.
Everything, and I mean everything was brilliant – the staff were all really helpful and friendly without being condescending, nothing was too much trouble
Doonbeg is a hidden treasure and I can’t praise it enough

The weather was brutal - the Atlantic was wild and beautiful and the Trump Intl Hotel in Doonbeg provided a luxurious and cosy retreat from the elements. Warm open fires and the most hospitable staff welcomed us on Friday. The main house at Doonbeg is so perfect it could have been plucked directly from a Disney movie although the weather was so bad on our arrival it reminded us of coming in from the moors to Wuthering Heights. Our accommodation was across the Courtyard - a beautifully appointed room with a luxurious bathroom (no bath) and separate WC. Exquisitely soft bedsheets tempted us to stay in but we ventured back out for a drink and some food in Trump Bar. We both had the burger which was beautiful - huge but beautiful. A long bracing walk on the beach on Saturday whipped up an appetite so we availed of afternoon tea. The time of our booking for the tea clashed with the Ireland V Italy rugby game and there are no TVs (rightly) in the restaurant where afternoon tea is offer but once the staff realised we really didn't want to miss it, we were set up with a table in front of a roaring fire and TV in the residents/members lounge. We were very grateful and enjoyed a lovely leisurely Saturday afternoon with a few hot toddies and a selection of scrumptious bites and pastries. Unfortunately I was suffering badly from a headcold so my tastebuds weren't firing and I was bitterly disappointed not be able to taste anything from our 7 course tasting menu later that evening but the staff couldn't have been kinder or more sympathetic. Gladly, I got a reprieve on Sunday morning and I was able to taste the delicious pancakes on Sunday morning. The weekend went by too quickly. Staying at Doonbeg was like being hosted by close friends. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were attentive yet discrete. The location is very romantic. We loved it and look forward to returning.

This is a real luxury hotel. We stayed in one of the ocean view suites and it was fabulous.
Very generous sized complimentary toiletries by the handmade soap company.
The kitchen is the most well equipped kitchen we had ever seen in a hotel facility. There was even a food processor!
We availed of the 7 course tasting menu and it was fantastic.
The breakfast menu had extensive choice available and the full Irish breakfast arrived nice and hot.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone as we had a really great stay.

Having just come back from an over night stay at Trump Doongeg, I feel it only fair to write a review,This is only my 2nd review on Tripadvisor, having stayed in many hotels around the world,
From the time we arrived I could not say enough about the friendliness, professional smiling staff,
We settled in to our lovely courtyard suite ,lovely gas fire with chicken wings and a bottle of beer and Rugby on the telly, it was just fantastic.Ordered our little snack and it arrived only 15 minutes later,

Dinner was fabulous and the smiling attentive Aine looked after us so well.
We had ordered breakfast in our room and it arrived in a lovely basket right on time and was delicious,
Top marks to everyone, we are certainly coming back.

If Carlberg did hotels.............

Top shelf! This is a great Hotel in the middle of nowhere on an outstanding international golf course. Great value for money for what you get. We were looking for somewhere to stay in the vicinity of the Cliffs of Mohr and this fitted the bill. We had stayed in Dingle and heading towards Galway. Not the best roads to reach this place and had a lot of difficulty finding reception but eventually did and what a reception we were given a guided tour of the resort whilst our car was being parked and bags taken to our room. We stayed in a 2 story suite with a living room on the ground floor complete with kitchen and open fire. The bedroom was upstairs and was brilliant, we were give a briefing tour of the suite alnd shown the many facilities including an ice making machine and instructions on the gas open fire. Comfort plus! We had dinner in a restaurant above the proshop which is informal and welcoming, the food was great.
Every member of the staff here are fantastic, they all go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay.
Not enough superlatives to give thIs great facility, highly recommended in every department. The golf course is pristeen and would have loved a round but insufficient time but as they say, 'I'll be back! Hopefully!
