The hotel is only one star but the restaurant is excellent. The entrance from the back is up a lot of steps through trees and grass. We ate there five times and sat outside. The menu caters for all tastes and we enjoyed everything we had. The waitress was a delight and brought us a "little present" before our order came. This was melon and ham or artichokeor polenta and sausage as examples We would really recommend you give the Aquila a try --you won't regret it!!!

This place was a random quick stop during my break at "the floating piers" to grab something to eat. Everything on the menu was great!

We loved it. We have been around in quite a lot of the restaurants in Sulzano but this is absolutely one of the top three. Service is great and friendly and the food is very well cooked. Hats off to the chef! We would love to come back.

Decent portions but lacking a little in quality.
Shared a starter of pasta - quite good.
Mains were pretty average.
In my quest to try tiramisu in each restaurant this was the worst I had on our holiday in Sulzano. Was still partly frozen and looked like it was a dessert bought by the hotel from a supermarket freezer container - it was awful
Wines reasonably priced but, again, pretty average, as was the service

We’ve eaten in a number of restaurants around the lake but the one we keep returning to is the Albergo Ristorante Aquila, a family-run establishment close to the edge of the lake.

We’ve eaten there ten times and have tried many dishes from the menu of around 30 items, plus deserts. Fish from the lake appears prominently but there also are dishes of beef, veal and venison. Average price for a course is €10-11.

The Albergo has a large, bright dining room but we prefer to eat on the terrace. In late May, you can watch blackbirds collecting material for their nests whilst sitting in the evening sun with a glass of Prosecco. You can smell the lake and hear the ducks; it’s very relaxing.

The food is neither showy nor over-elaborated: just good Italian cooking from Mama in the kitchen.

You might choose to share a huge plate of Antipasto de Terra, (salami di MonteIsola, some other sausage, prosciutto, maybe porchetta and, one evening, a few strips of delicious home-made lardo.) Another time a big plate of Bresaola with artichokes will suffice.

Then maybe pasta; how about home-made Casoncelli, a ravioli from Brescia, with sage butter or squid-ink tagliatelle with prawns? But maybe not, if you’d prefer to leave room for fillets of golden perch crisply fried or vitello tonnato or some other dish.

A favourite is Reali di Mare Gratinati: a generous volume of king prawns and langoustines, split in half, covered with breadcrumbs, parmesan, oil, maybe garlic, then cooked in the oven. The only practicable way to eat this is with your hands; a bit messy but what a treat.

Service is headed up by the delightful Francesca, who always finds time for a word or a smile, no matter how busy she is.

A good wine list includes wines from Franciacorta and a good choice of digestifs includes many varieties of grappa. Wine by the caraffa is very drinkable and inexpensive.
