We stayed in this former Franciscan convent (dating back to the 13th century) for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great position, right in the centre of Pienza, and has great character, with the hotel's cloisters themselves an attraction to tourists. You can't get near by car, except by arrangement to deal with luggage: the nearest large car park is about 5 minutes walk away. This is mainly pay-and-display but there are some free spaces (ask the hotel for details). Most of our party used the large, mainly free, car park rather more than 5 minutes walk away. A warning, though: on a fine weekend in October, all car parks were full for a time during the day.
Our accommodation, part of the cloisters, was vast, with bedroom, bathroom and sitting area. It was comfortable and well laid out, although a little gloomy because the windows were high up (due to the historic structure). We didn't have lunch or dinner in the hotel, but breakfasts were good. The weather let us sit on the terrace for breakfast with dramatic views over the Val d'Orcia. The staff were efficient, but the occasional smile would have been welcome!More
