This was a good hotel, a tad dated, but very nice and clean. We chose a lake view room and we weren't disappointed. The view was amazing. Breakfast was lacklustre for a large hotel and the restaurant was also closed. It was nice to use the pool and jacuzzi on one evening, but the next day the jacuzzi was out of order and there was a class being held in the pool, so we couldn't use either. The stunning views and location really made the stars on this review. How can anybody be unhappy in beautiful Montreux. I think this hotel is more suited to elderly travellers. Although as a young(ish) couple, it was quiet and peaceful for us, which was great.

Room Tip: Request lake view rooms! A must...

Unfortunately we could not get a room facing the lake. Our room was quite noisy from the traffic on the street below. The room/apartment was huge. A portable air conditioner was connected through one of the windows so we were unable to close the window, which made the traffic noise worse. Good location, within walking distance of the castle. Also a free bus stops right in front of the hotel. Difficult to find the parking garage. Once in the garage, it is difficult to figure out how to get to the hotel lobby. Part of the hotel is a retirement home/physical therapy department with many levels and different elevators. Expensive, but then everything in Montreaux is expensive. Parking in the garage is an extra 20 euro a day.

Room Tip: Definitely get a lake view apartment

Stayed in the apartment block which is quite spacious with two bedrooms, a fully functioning kitchenette and a balcony with a view of the lake. Breakfast is reasonable and they serve some divine coffee. Location wise it's halfway between the town centre and Chateau de Chillon. However travel is not an issue as the bus stop is right opposite and if you have a Swiss pass, you just hop on and off anytime. The living room is equipped with a cooler which is helpful especially as the summer are gets more hot. Wonderful place to stay as a family. Only little inconvenience is that we would have loved to have some more choice of restaurants within walking distance of the hotels.

We booked a fantastic suite and terrace overlooking Lake Geneva - view was superb with snow-capped mountains to the left and Montreux to the right. Our room was massive and had kitchen facilities which we found very useful. The position is by the promenade which you can follow into town, although it probably takes 30 mins. The bus goes regularly from directly outside the hotel and is very easy to use. We asked for a Travelpass at reception which gave us free bus transport within the town. Breakfasts were fantastic - great choice and great quality. The hotel is part old-people's home which was a bit different but everyone was very nice so that was fine.
While there, we went on the Golden Rail chocolate train to Gruyere (lovely town and scenery), the Golden Rail train to Gstaad (quaint but preferred the Gruyere trip) and walked the lovely Unesco Lavaux Vineyards from Lutry to St Saphorin (park at Lutry, follow the route then train back - probably took 5 hours in total).

Room Tip: View of lake must not be missed!

Although it is located a great distance away from Montreux Gare, you can still hop on a free bus to the bus stop just directly outside the hotel. The bus stop to take the bus to the hotel is located 1 street level below the train station, so just a tip for you to take note of. Nevertheless, the 2-bedroom apartment was the most spacious accommodation we had ever had for this whole Suisse trip. The wrap-around balcony was also very spacious and offered a good view of the lake. It was more like a serviced apartment rather than a hotel. The whole apartment was very clean too, and it has an air-conditioner so don't worry about the hot summer days/nights. Loved playing with the remote-controlled blinds and balcony awning. The free breakfast was also good though not the full style. It is easy to access the promenade below the hotel, so it makes for a good walk to the nearby Chateau de Chillon, which in consolation, is nearer to the hotel than to the train station/main town.
