My fiancé and I had been to several of the area craft and art studios in and around St. John's. This was by far the best one. Much more affordable. We purchased a small original oil painting on canvas for about $30. It was really a steal because it was also framed. Compare that to $80 for just a reprint with matting at some of the other shops.
Stopped by on a rainy May day for a warm Newfoundland welcome. Small 2 room gallery with art on display for sale by local and regional artists and artisans, from paintings to stained glass and woven pieces that feature local scenery, bird life, etc. Worth a stop! We bought some nice mementos.
A beautiful location that genuinely has 5 islands in view. A wide variety of artistic items, though none that quite caught our imagination and they were quite expensive.
While driving south from St. John's, we saw a little sign pointing to the Five Island Art Gallery.
Since we love seeing (And purchasing on occasion....) local arts and crafts, we decided to pop in.
The gallery is located in a restored two room schoolhouse, with high ceilings and lots of windows providing good lighting for the artwork.
The gallery hosts paintings and sculpture of local artists, both traditional and contemporary/modern.
We were greeted by the friendly owner (Who was busy mowing the lawn when we drove up....), a native Newfoundlander of Greek ancestry.
The works of art are beautiful and reasonably priced. The gallery also ships worldwide.
Beautiful!! Original!! Definitely Worth The Stop!!
This little art gallery highlights the many artists around the region, from photographers to painters to the amazing work of the rug hookers. Not only are you offered a glimpse into the creative side of the area you are also offered a cup of tea!
A warm welcome, a cup of tea and insight into the art and artists of the area. What more could you ask for?
