This traditional elegant onsen experience is the highlight of our trip! Everything is serene and the service is of the highest standard. Thanks the Chef for the sumptuous and healthy meals. To me your food is “ Michelin ***** “
Thanks the lady who served us with the meals with such elegancy and fine details ! Your smile is so warm and beautiful !
Also thank Shuta for all the wonderful service and introducing us to the nearby handmade noodle place which is again another serene yet tasty experience !

We had the pleasure to stay at this beautiful place, during our recent trip to Japan. Besides being one of the best ryokan in the country, the amazing feeling of enjoying a private onsen in the room and the delicious food, it offers the chance to meet local artisans and producers, which makes it the perfect ryokan experience. If you want to know more, you may want to check the reportage we made for Inusualia.com

A two and a half hour train ride from Tokyo. The walk along the river is very nice. There is golf nearby and decent shopping. It's all about the experience of immersing oneself in gracious Japanese culture.

The Inn, the Staff, the Food, the Location, The General Manager Jiro Takeuchi, all made this THE HIGHLIGHT of our 3 weeks in Japan. The food and service were magnificent and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. Jiro was always present to help and suggest, and one highlight was that he personally took us to his friend who is a Master woodcarver. He actually made a bowl for us and we were thrilled to buy his fine lacquerware. The gorge is next to the Inn and it is a beautiful serene walk. The town is small but with shops worth visiting. We stayed 2 nights but longed for more days at this incredible facility! Do try to get one of the rooms with the private onsen. A MUST

Room Tip: Wonderful rooms! Try to get in-suite onsen.

My wife and I stayed in Kayotei for one night at May 25. It was the first time we stayed in a traditional Japanese style onsen hotel. We were a bit nervous about not being accustomed to the proper way to behave ourselves. It proved we were over worried. The hotel and our room are arranged elegantly. Food is excellent and served in private dinning room. Staffs are polite, attentive in a very subtle way. They make us loosen up as we stepped in the premises.

We want to express our special gratitude to the concierge, Shuta Takeuchi San. For some reason, our traveling plan needed to be rearranged. Takeuchi San went extra miles to make sure all accommodation and restaurant reservations are secured and confirmed. I say "extra miles" because those reservations are for The remaining days after we left Kayotei.

Shuta helped us not because his obligation to please the customer, but his warm character to help a couple dis-oriented tourists to enjoy his motherland. And I feel the same spirit is among all the staffs in Kayotei.
