Had a great time fishing, with lots of things to do afterwards , we enjoyed the town, small shops, surfing, zip line, water falls, bar hopping. This area is not over run with huge resorts, its a nice quite surfing/fishing village where you can walk to most places. We found a really cool water fall on the other side of the Pueblo Nosara where we met a very friendly family that invited us to come visit them next time we are in town.

Room Tip: we have WIFI in our room, the place was not fancy but very comfortable, no TV which was great!!

My neighbor won a silent auction bid for a week long fishing trip to Nosara Costa Rica. There were six of us staying at the Casa Privada, which is managed by Nosara Paradise Rentals. Norsara is a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Liberia airport. Some of the roads could use some improving (you'll see what I mean). There are several other cottages on the property, which includes a shared small pool and breakfast area. Casa Privada is touted to accommodate 12, but the six of us felt a bit cramped. There's the main cottage which has two bedrooms consisting of a master bedroom with a single queen sized bed and bathroom/shower, and a second smaller bedroom with a full sized bed and a bunk bed. There is a separate bathroom/shower which adjoins the kitchenette. The couch has a pull out bed. Accommodations were modest, but everything worked. No TV, but the WiFI was decent. There is an separate non-adjoining building which is part of this cottage rental, and consists of a twin size bed and a bunk bed. This room did not have a bathroom, and occupants would have to use the bathroom in the main cottage. There is a covered outdoor porch with a table, and two hammocks. There's a small pool a short walk down the path, along with the morning breakfast area. There is also a small bathroom (toilet) next to the pool. Breakfast was provided daily at 6 AM-8 AM for property guests. It was basically the same thing each morning (Juice, coffee, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, pancakes, toast, and cut fruit). Arrangements could be made for additional cost, to have the kitchen lady (Maria) cook any fish caught for an evening meal. All excursions were arranged through the office. We had three full days of offshore fishing, and also opted to go on the horseback tour and canopy zip line tour. During our stay we found two scorpions in the bathroom, so watch out for these guys. We also were invaded by large black flying ants one night. There were also occasional power outages, but these usually didn't last long . We rented two golf carts from the main office for our week long stay, which made it easier to travel to the store or to local restaurants. The beach is about a 10 minute walk, so the golf carts came in handy for this as well. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Shuttle service to excursions and to the airport were always on time. Some of the area restaurants we tried included Burgers and Beer (self explanatory), Bascilico (good pizza for reasonable price), and Taco Taco. We wanted to eat at La Dolce Vita, but we found out its cash only, so we went elsewhere. Our stay coincided with the start of the rainy season, and it did not disappoint, with nightly showers/thunder storms.

Very spartan and clean. Air conditioned nicely. Tucked away in beautiful, tropical folage. Fantastic breakfast on site. Super stopping off point for fishing or surfing. Would definitely book this place again, the prices are great.

Room Tip: Upstairs is best

We had such a wonderful trip. Maria cooked breakfast for us every morning. There was also fresh juice she squeezed. We went fishing 3 days on this trip. Each morning, Freddy would pick us up at our door and take us to the boat at the beach. He always helped us in and out of the jeep, loaded our stuff, and reminded us to "Watch your head!" getting in and out of the jeep. The fishing captains were very nice. The deck hands on both boats did everything for us. Maria also makes your lunch, so you can even make a special request a couple of days in advance of your fishing trip. We booked a horse back trip through the property. This was amazing. Freddy drove us up and around the mountains, crossing a river once, then pulled to the edge of another part of the river where Eduardo and Raphael were waiting with a row of horses. Make sure you are standing next to the person you want to take water fall pictures with so he can give you horses that like each other. We rode through the jungle, around huge trees, monkeys above our heads, across streams, to Eduardo and Raphael's mother's house. She had a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us. We were allowed to use the restroom in her home. We took pictures in front of two different waterfalls and then went swimming in crystal clear, cool water. Eduardo took pictures with our cameras the whole way. He even carried our little cooler of beer on his horse. We went back to mom's house for lunch. This was by far one of the best meals we had all week. She cooked everything on an open fire. They don't have electricity! She offered coffee from the beans growing around her house. I think she plucked the chicken just before we got there. Eduardo also works security at night at the resort.

Although the package we booked included maid service, that only happened one day the whole trip. We were next to the laundry room, so we were able to exchange towels when we needed. Two people can't take a shower at the same time or when the laundry is running. I would also suggest your bring your own pillows. We were so tired each day from all of our activities, it didn't matter the beds were a bit hard.

We also booked zip lining at the front desk even though this is through another company.

We were shuttled to and from the airport. They allow two hours for this and you pretty much need it. Once you get off pavement, it just about all dirt roads, winding the whole way.

We rented golf carts from the resort. Most everything is about 15 - 20 minutes by golf cart that you would need. Make sure you get a good golf cart.

There is no ice machine. Ice is a high commodity. We went to a little store around the corner for ice each day. Small, maybe 2 pound bags at a time. Not at all like the 20 lbs $.99 ice at Bucees we are accustomed to.

There is sometimes a language barrier and things can get lost in translation. Luckily enough of us knew enough Spanish to get our point across.

Room Tip: You can hear your neighbor snoring, talking, and flushing toilets. If you like to sleep in, breakfast is served poolside.

Our stay at Casa Capitan was a joy! Maria brought breakfast each morning with freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes, coffee, etc. there was plenty of room and the back porch had two hammocks, a table for six as well as a lounge chair. The customer service was impressive!
