Book in advance, it could be difficult to get a table in the high season, guests at the hotel are preferred. The restaurant is serving top quality food both for lunch and dinner. You will not regret it if you try this charming and historic restaurant. The hotel has 3 restaurants, the blue, red and yellow, we preferred the yellow one, but all 3 have nice view towards the ocean. On the menu we all chose grilled sole and we were very pleased with our choice, but you have several other (also seafood) alternatives on the menu and a good wine list as well.

Two parents and three kids (9, 7 and 3) for lunch.

This place takes you back to the beach vacation of the upperclass in the 1930s. It is an undisturbed jewel. The setting is out of this world and the food is superb. Traditional danish dishes with a twist and presented better than anywhere else. This kitchen is very capable and the ingredients are local, the absolute top quality and 110% fresh.

You need to book, however when booking you tell that there are kids and they will place you so you have a good time without worrying that you disturb some uptight table nearby. Super professional and friendly staff. Kids menu is simple, but nothing simple when the plate arrives. Your little ones are served same quality as everyone else.

Do take the traditional coffee after the lunch on the terrace in front of the hotel. Only heavy rain could keep me inside. Dress warmly and the coffee outside is spectacular - perhaps heat up by adding a cognac ...

If you have the choice, go during a weekday or simply towards the end of the season. The Danes finish holidays at the end of July, hence go in August and things are more relaxed.

Tried going for lunch. After driving quite a bit to reach the place, we were met by a permanent looking sign saying the restaurant was full and/or reserved for hotel guests. We still went inside and despite lot's of vacant tables they still maintained they were full. We were offered to sit outside in 17 degrees and gale winds, so it wasn't a question of kitchen capacity. They obviously don't want your money, don't bother!

We stayed a couple of nights (see separate review on the hotel) and dined in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

All the time we were served "relaxed gourmet style" meals - top quality ingredients, innovative preparations, artisticly arranged and served with a smile by the young and very charming staff.

You can opt for the svinkloev menu, the seafood menu, the veggie menu or dine a la carte. They will let you mix and match between the menus that changes each day so there is quite a variety of options.

Only downside: quality costs, but it's worth it!
