Just returned from a walking holiday on the Dachstein plateau and used Hotel Matschner as our base. Really excellent, a lovely spacious room, first class food and fantastic warm service from all staff and owners. Thoroughly recommended

Room tip: Upper floor Ramsau room with balcony looking south

Stayed here for summer walking. Excellent hotel, room very comfortable, extensive breakfast buffet & lovely evening meals. Excellent base for walking in the area & easy access to the Dachstein glacier & also visiting Schladming.

One of the nicest family hotels we stayed in.Wonderful friendly staff.Big rooms.Great food.
Central location -1 minute walk to bus stop and 3 minutes to beginner's ski lift.

Great playroom with climbing wall.Lovely lady Annie who entertains kids.

Ein tolles Familienhotel mit Herz.Top service fuer Familien.Man hat nie das Gefuehl dass etwas zu viel ist.Tolle Moeglichkeiten einer Schlittenfahrt.Rodeln.Langlaufen neben Schifahren.Langweilig wird es nie.

Wir kommen wieder!
We will be back!

Stayed a week for a winter walking holiday. Rooms are ok but some problems - low water pressure so the bath took 20 mins to fill and a basin where the plug didn't work.
We requested a quiet room before arrival but were allocated a room close to the stairs and next to a family with 2 children who were up and about very early so disturbed nights.
Reception staff generally very helpful but once or twice gave the impression that they didn't want to be approached.
Restaurant staff also sometimes a bit "distant" . The food was variable, some nice meals but others that could have been better - tough lamb one night as an example. Limited choice for main courses - 3 options each night , one vegetarian but poor choices so salad from the extensive salad bar each night for one of us. No choice for dessert although a good choice of cheese as an alternative. Breakfasts good with a wide choice.
We went on 2 organised snow shoe walks with the hotel guide who was very good - if you only go on one choose the walk on Thursday which was "magical" in the virgin snow in the pine trees.
Fantastic scenery all around Ramsau with good, well maintained walking trails
Generally a good hotel but something "missing" and not up to the standards of the Weisenhoff hotel at Pertisau which we visited last September.
