Fantastic in every sense. The setting is beautiful and hidden away, service is second to-none and the food and wine list high quality and extensive.

Can’t fault it. Going back in late December!

Thank Elliot S

We had dinner bed and breakfast and stayed the night as it is too far to travel from home. The hotel was built in 1907 and has all the features of Edwardian style with metal windows and rather dark rooms. The location is near Chatsworth Park and good walking in the Dales.
The bedrooms are large and very comfortable with a good selection of soaps and shampoos.
Dinner was the main reason for staying and I started with chicken liver followed by the wild duck. Both were excellent and this was followed by a Christmas souffle. This was a bit of an effort to manage after the main course but well worth it with a little icecream and whisky.
The wines show the usual mark up for a restaurant of this standard.
Breakfast was equally good with a choice of cereals (including gluten free) and cooked dishes.
The staff were delightful.

Nice setting, attentive staff, pleasant aperitifs, wine very expensive..!! Chief Chef was away and I have to say the food was disappointing, starter was not quite as described on the menu and small whilst very expensive, the main course was partly good, but then awful, tiny sprouts uncooked, cold and rock hard, other vegetables mashed in to a mush..!! A long way from what was expected and even after a discount for one meal that could not be eaten it was so bad, the bill still came to £170 for 2 people..!! I hate paying anybody for serving rubbish..!!

Every mouthful is a delight. The evening menu has a good range, and caters for vegetarians too. The experience begins in the lounge, when the menu is offered, and the hours d'eouvres are served. The food is delightful, and the service attentive. No rush, but not too slow either.
