Was contemplating the starter when I saw the portion sizes, but my worries were put to rest when it arrived. I had the carpaccio and it was 10/10, flavour, seasoning, amazing! For main I had be chicken with Gorgonzola sauce which was terrific. Would recommend to everyone!

Great salads. Friendly and un-pushy service. Also good coffee. Had lunch of gluten-free beef salad and dairy-free chicken salad

Right on the quayside with lovely views onto the esplanade. Menu was chocked full of good stuff and was a bit different to other restaurants in Croatia as they had kids food on offer and decent puddings! Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent - we had mussels, calzone, chicken grill and neopolitan spaghetti. All loved it. Reasonably priced - would love to go back as Jelsa is simply a lovely place.

Bistro Star has been a given favourite each year (7 years to date) I've visited Jelsa with family and friends. It has an ideal location close to the town square while being situated on the waterfront where the catamaran docks. Sitting at Bistro Star gives you an overview of the various comings & goings and strollings of near all who move through the little town.

The table service is one of the best (if not the very best) in Jelsa. Most places in town are attentive enough during the initial ritual of taking a seat and placing orders. Where Bistro Star shines is when it comes to their attentiveness to supplementary requests during one's dining - all the way until the bill is paid. There's one waiter in particular who seems to bear the brunt of waiting on the tables whether the restaurant has a handfull of guests or if the place is packed. The fellow always catches any subtle wink I throw out when in want of something. I can confidently claim that this ability to cater to guests throughout their entire dining experience is rather remarkable in it's rarity in Jelsa. (The restaurant at the square, 'Pizzeria Jelsa'? (I'm uncertain of their name) is also very good at such attentiveness, though they seem to have a larger staff of waiters. If I remeber correctly, the waiter at Bistro Star that does so much to make dining here a smooth and pleasant experience is named Goran. The fellow is also something of a sommelier extraordinaire (at least de facto if not per diploma) and patiently provides superb suggestions when queried on which wine to best pair with any particular dish.

We often enjoyed eating here aprés beach before going home after a day at the beach. We also dined here in the evening several times during our fortnight in Jelsa. Then there were numerous times we wrapped up an evening at Bistro Star with a bottle of wine per recommendation from Goran.

The kitchen is also very good this year (and last year for that matter.3+ years back, the dishes didn't always live up to rather reasonable expectations but this year (as well as last year) everything served was delicious and wonderful. So hip-hip hurray to whatever chandes in the kitchen made that come about.

Bistro Star is very much part and parcel of what makes our yearly fortnight stays in Jelsa so anticipated. I hope Bistro Stars remains a solid venue for dining even next season.
