I stayed at beach side bungalow. The bungalow is quite old, room decoration is very plain as same as furnitures in the room.

Aged air-conditioner are available only in bedroom NOT in the living room,so you need to open the window, without wire screen, if you want to lay down in the living room, unless still stay in the bedroom (or leave the resort and looking for new one)

Only one thing positive for this hotel is clean.

Chaolao beach, Chantaburi has always been our vocational destination for years as it is pretty much untainted.

We stayed for 2 nights. The place is spacious, probably just has been renovated. Staff are ready to serve you all the time. They never lost the smile on their faces during the time we stayed there.

When booking, if you are just a couple, we recommend to stay on the hotel building rather than a bungalow. Not because it's cheaper, but you can get a great seaview from your balcony and it's just as close to the beach. The room condition is good, although it obviously shows signs of refurbishment. We think this is an old hotel building that came with the land. The room we stayed looked like it was built three or four decades ago. Anyway, It was clean and spacious. No smells and no bedbugs.

We brought our MTBs so we could ride on the beach, and from bays to bays. We took a trip to Khungwiman bay, which is about 18 KM. away. The view was great along the road. locals are friendly enough to talk to us along the way there. My girlfriend just rode for the first time and she liked it, despite we had to walk out bikes uphills in some parts along the way. I could say we had a pleasant time riding.

At the hotel, they offer you a bike rental service which costs around USD 1.25 per hour. You can just rent one and ride along the beach in the evening, that would be fun enough.

The breakfast at the hotel was plain on weekdays (Our first night there), but splendid on weekends (our second night). There are varieties of food, including the local dishes. Anyway, hot cake with honey syrup there is our favorite.

The restaurant in the hotel offers lunch and dinner. The price is not so cheap yet not so expensive (as cheap as you could find around that area). In the evening, they serve cocktails and alcoholic beverages, and we loved it.

The beach in front of the hotel is not so big, but the sea there is great, much better than in Pattaya and Rayong. The ecosystem there is still rich.

Feel free to drive there without booking a parking lot. There are more than enough space and it's better if you have a vehicle to drive around the area as many attractions around the area are not within walking distance.

Room Tip: Book a hotel room (3rd-4th floor) or a beach front bungalow.

Excellent location and rooms in the main building were good value.

Food and drinks were no more expensive than eating outside. Buffet breakfast offered a superb selection of dishes. Even cereals were available if requested.

The grounds were well maintained and staff were all very friendly

Did some shopping around to find this place. It had some affordable rooms right on the beach. The hotel was very nice and the staff were great. Our accommodation came with great breakfast as well. We got in at the beginning of the week. I think we were the only ones staying in the hotel. I didn't notice a lot of tourists in this location. Other than Thai travelers. If you are looking for a place a little farther than some are willing to drive. This is a nice relaxing spot. Nice beaches in the area too. I did notice quite a few jelly fish so be on the look out when swimming.

Stayed in the main building which was adequate for our needs, and having read many reports from people about the cabins/bungalows, It would seem that the cheap hotel room is far better than the other options. The beach at the hotel is awful, and that does not describe how bad it is. The free breakfast buffet is probably one of the best I have encountered in Thai hotels in the last 12 years, if something is not 100% to your liking there are plenty of other options available including fruit and salads. Room was clean and large enough for my wife/daughter and myself. It really amazes me to think that in a hotel that must have cost millions to build and maintain, they would ruin everything there by not paying someone B500 a day to clean the beach. I shall certainly stay at Chao Lao Beach again, but it will be about 2km or so North of New Travel Beach Hotel where the beach is kept clean and tidy. Crazy thing is that if the beach at the hotel was good we would have stayed there most of the day and eaten/drunk at their restaurant, as it was we just returned to sleep and eat the breakfast before going to other locations further down the beach to eat/drink/swim. For the many many travelers that don't seem to understand that Thai Hotel rooms have hard beds because that is the way that people here like it, our main block room at this hotel did actually have softer than usual beds.
