Description: Paradosiakon, is one of the best taverns of Corfu and operates since the 30s, in the region Spilia in Palaia Poli. It is an authentic tavern with Corfiot delicacies and traditional recipes coming from grandmother drawer, following the traditional ways of preparation and using pure fresh ingredients carefully selected. It is recommended by the most well known, foreign tour guides (MARCO POLO, GUIDE DE ROUTARD, LET'S GO), while its location creates the ideal atmosphere for a meal on the island, as it is located in one of the most romantic and picturesque pedestrian streets in the region of Spilia. Our trademark is the fresh fish and the local meat on the grill. Each dish comes with special care and respect to the customer in spite of the times that the sloppy and poor quality of raw materials is everywhere. Besides, the kitchen is open to visitors, who can watch Mrs. Elpida prepare the Corfiot recipes with taste, such as sofrito, pastitsada, bourdeto, moussaka in clay, stuffed, keftedekia, Corfu sausage and much more! Paradosiakon, is a constant and exceptional choice. The eighty (80) years of its continuous operation prooves it, as well as the prize and the certification of the Region of Ionian Islands and the CC with EXCELLENT QUALITY / BEST QUALITY. We are waiting to take you on a tasting journey through a quality & rich gastronomic experience, coming from the tradition of Corfu!

In October Corfu is less busy and the restaurant was thankfully mostly empty. Served straight away, ordering first a Corfu Beer Red followed by local dish (and Sunday dinner for Corfiots) Pastitsada (€11.50) which is a lovely and tender long pasta served with meat, traditionally rooster, but i suspect here it is braised beef for the tourist palate. It was tasty. Another local dish, Sofrito, is lovely and is also served here.
Ok, the owner won't win prizes for witty reparte, but its family run with the kids helping out too and right by the Old Port and the climb up to the New Fort its a handy location when you're flagging. The tables are kept immaculately clean and it has a welcome toilet as well as top signal strength wi-fi.

Place looks attractive walking past....lots of tables outside with crisp white linen. Sat down and reviewed menu....asked the surly waiter (owner?) about one item which he explained and then stood over us whilst we then tried to decide....most uncomfortable. He recommended things but clearly just to 'up-sell' to get as much dosh out of you as possible. Garlic bread starter ok but nothing great. Greek main course similarly ok but not great....big lumps of meat unceremoniously dumped on a mound of spaghetti with a thin sauce of sorts. Ordered Mythos bottle at E4 which turned out to be small bottles....heavens what a rip off....on this holiday I paid less in restaurants for a large bottle and for a pint of draft! The aforementioned surely bloke then kept walking into the place right by our table which was in a sort of doorway....he can have used any number of other entrances but kept barging past us, in and out. The only good point was the other waitress, Maria, who always had a smile and was friendly. Sorry but coming here was a mistake and there are many much much better places within a few yards.....7 nights eating out in Corfu and this was the poorest experience by a long way.

The food was great , we ordered Greek traditional food that the waiter who served us recommended to us. That waiter was brilliant but the other sir with grey hair kept shouting inside the restaurant and was smoking an electronic cigarette that smelled awful. If he's there do not consider eating at that restaurant on that moment although the food is amazing (it's the best we've had during our stay in Corfu!)... Go back later that day, it will be such a big mistake not tasting their fantastic dishes! Trust me!!!

Went for lunch, waited an hour for starter which never arrived but were still charged for. When food eventually arrived it was very bland and overpriced. Staff were rude and one member of staff was more interested in new customers in an already full restaurant. Avoid!
