My wife and I stayed at the hotel late June 2017, first time in Kos. Lovely room, can’t fault with view out front side of hotel over lovely garden area and sea outlook. Half board for first time in years and again can’t fault with good food selection. Enjoyed lunch at the pool bar with tasty sandwiches and excellent service and as the youngsters would say, “good banter” with the attentive staff. Nice pool and no problems with loungers, animation team doing there thing. Evening entertainment a bit hit and miss. Made mistake of walking into Kos Town, was absolutely shattered there and back but learned from mistake and took bus next time, stop right outside the hotel! Hope town has recovered from the later earthquake as was town was beautiful.................and we’re going back this coming June to same hotel!!

We have had the pleasure of being guests at this hotel 5 times. For us the location is great,as we like the 30 minute walk to town and we love to cycle. The two pools are really good and daytime activities are fun. We do find the sunbeds very basic and not comfy but perhaps this is something Mr Platanista can change in due course. I have to say apart from Kos being one of our favourite Greek Islands the main reason we return are the staff. These people work long and hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. From the reception staff Georgia and Kostas to the pool bar and the fabulous
Spartek we have had the best service. I cannot praise the restaurant staff enough big mention to Maria heart of gold and Pantelos nothing they won't do to make your stay enjoyable. Mariella who makes the crepes is a breath of fresh air every morning. The grounds are very green and immaculate the rooms are fresh and cleaned daily. The whole complex is so relaxing and friendly i always feel like i am coming home whenever i visit. Looking forward to a couple of visits this year. Yes the drinks are expensive but they are proper drinks not cheap , great selection of international wines and spirits, Some great nights by the pool beer and a few entertainers although quite low key it's enjoyable.

This is an outline and update review with a section on the deluxe rooms which I was lucky to be upgraded to at no additional cost due to all other rooms being full except the family suite.
The Hotel Platanista maintains its position as a great holiday destination in Kos for all the reasons most people search for in their holiday, a very welcoming environment with amusing/helpful staff with good language skills, good cuisine, well built and maintained buildings and grounds, nice swimming pools, sports/gym, sauna and massage facilities, free Wi-Fi, etc.
There continues to be a good mix of holiday-makers from different countries who get on well together and with the staff, leading to a relaxing atmosphere. Many people return to this hotel but I am pleased to say many new visitors were there this September especially younger visitors who fitted in well. There are now kettles and free coffee/tea making facilities for your arrival/early morning beverage but it is not a replacement continuous stocking up service in lieu of the excellent ‘café’ facilities available during the day. The extended availability of the additional poolside bar for drinks was also notable.
The animation team (this year Olga and George) worked hard to provide enjoyable daytime activities and night time entertainment and there has been an increase in the number of outside professional singers/acts brought at the hotel which has been appreciated by many.
Although it should not be an issue, the wearing of shorts is not allowed for men in the restaurant and this is a common requirement but seems to surprise a few, especially younger, people. It is about maintaining general high standards and you can return to your room after dinner and put your shorts back on if you wish. Another issue seems to be finding a table for dinner; just like any hotel restaurant it is the role of the Maitre d’hôtel to organise this and given there are 4/5 means of accessing the seating he has his hands full and needs customers to be understanding of the pressures.
Like any hotel there are supplementary costs (even all inclusive hotels charge for certain things) so visitors should not be surprised to be charged (weekly) for a towel for sunbathing/swimming or the use of the sun beds on the hotel’s private beach across the road (the charge is the same as the commercial beach providers along the way to Kos Town).
Although not an easy exercise, the hotel continues to examine areas for improvement and although I am just another regular visitor, I am aware that some people, especially women it seems, would prefer a softer sun bed surface under their towel and this is being looked at by the manager.
All the rooms in the Platanista are pleasant, comfortable and spacious enough but as I mentioned I was lucky to be allocated a deluxe room and these rooms are clearly more modern/trendy in terms of décor, they have a walk-in shower facility and even more clothes storage. They are bigger and located in one of the quietest parts of the complex. There are niceties included like bathrobes/slippers, etc.
So overall, the Hotel Platanista is still a brilliant place to holiday in Kos!

We stayed at the Hotel Platanista recently for one week mid October and it was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is immaculately maintained throughout, it looked fresh, spotlessley clean and pristine even though our holiday was towards the end of the season. Our bedroom was so comfortable with top quality beds, furniture, and furnishings. It was really lovely and had everything we needed for our stay - includes TV, coffee & tea making facilities, mini bar, bathrobes, slippers and plenty of toiletries,
room safe and superefficient air conditioning. The house keeping staff kept our room beautifully clean and we never needed to ask for any extra supplies.

We were on a half board basis and the meals in the dining room both for breakfast and evening meal were exceptional. There was such a wonderful choice of dishes - local and international food we were spoilt for choice. There was a huge array of salads, cold meats, cheeses, all sorts of different breads - all fr
shly cooked, hot dishes and beautiful cakes, pastries, biscuits, fresh fruit, dried fruits, hot crepes/waffles cooked to order as well as bacon and eggs if wanted. The service from all the restaurant staff was impeccable and professional, we were never kept waiting for anything.

The hotel grounds and gardens are beautifully kept and immaculate. There are plenty of sun beds available for everyone together with large parasols/tables-all clean and in beautiful working order. The two swimming pools are absolutely spotless and look really inviting and gorgeous. The pool bar for drinks and the snack bar are most welcome providing lovely meals, local dishes, snacks.and drinks.

As soon we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel really welcome - the reception staff are so very efficient and everything was dealt with in such a lovely friendly, manner and at the same time highly professional. Our suitcases were taken up to our room for which we were very grateful. The hotel reception is really comfortable, it looks immaculate. There are lovely bar areas with different furniture and tables to suit everyones needs,in the hotel as well as by the outside of the restaurant and of course lovely bar staff - all efficient, friendly, professional and it was lovely to have our drinks brought to us.The terraced area is perfect for relaxing day or night.

We felt absolutely safe at all times - day and night knowing that there would always be staff ready, able and willling to help if needed.

Perfection.

Simply the best hotel we have ever stayed in on a package holiday. The food was by far the best ever experienced with a huge choice - two soups, huge choice of salads and cold meats, choice of at least 5 hot main course meats plus (unusually) good selection of vegetables plus a carvery choice each night, loads of puddings and extensive choices of breads noting gluten free option. The staff were extremely friendly, the two pools very clean, the tennis courts excellent, huge choice of sunbeds, rooms great and gardens beautiful. And very conveniently located for a leisurely 20 minute walk into Kos town. Can't recommend too highly.
