The place to stay in Cong! We stayed with Martha April 25 through 29 and loved the lodge. The room was very comfortable with good space and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was recently done, small but not cramped. Martha's choices for breakfast went from full Irish to continental. Her tea is brewed correctly and very good. Martha was such a good hostess, giving us good suggestions for shopping, lunch, dinner and sites. She even rose early to give us a light breakfast on our final morning.

Room Tip: Get the room with the river view, street side. There is very little street noise at night.

Brian and Diane. It was both our pleasure meeting you both and having you stay. We are glad you both enjoyed your holiday with us and touring around after. There is always tea in the pot here. You are both always welcome back anytime and we look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future. Now you know you can manage our big roads. Slán agus Beannacht. Martha.

It was great to be back in Ryan's River Lodge after their extensive refurbishment last year The dinning and guest sitting rooms are lovely, with comfortable soft chairs. You can relax with a book, a paper or check emails, (free wifi). between walks, a drive through the amazing scenery or a day in Galway, (good shopping ladies), which is just a short drive away, ( residents parking available). The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard with lovely fittings and completely new un-suites and guest bathroom.. In our room, (2). everything from the bed to the carpets was new, it was a joy to stay there. Although there have been changes the one area Martha hasn't changed is in the great service. The cleanliness of the bedrooms and communal areas are still immaculate and the breakfast always leaves us full-up way into the afternoon. There are yogurts to choose from, to which your own choice of fruit can be added. A good selection of cereals are on offer or if you prefer hot freshly cooked porridge. The Irish breakfast is very substantial with not a trace of grease or oil anywhere and the scrambled eggs with home smoked salmon is worth a try too. Along with the normal toast there is also home baked bread and cheese, which is really nice for a change, or you can have both, Martha likes to send you off filled up for the day. Ryan's River Lodge is a real family run B&B, (one of the boys helped with luggage), and this really shines through in everything they do, they really care and want your stay to be the best it can be and this is why we have been going back year after year. We cannot wait for our next visit inside the next few weeks hopefully, see you soon.. Kerry and Dessie Quinn, Coleraine.

We booked Ryan's River Lodge for 2 nights from 8th April 2017 as our friends were getting married on 9th at The Lodge at Ashford Castle.

Cong is approximately an hour away from Knock airport and most people hire cars to get around.

Upon arrival we were greeted by lovely Martha who checked us in and allowed us to pick which room we wanted. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a huge king size bed and personal bathroom with electric shower. Our room had a lovely view of the river outside and it was nice to lie on the bed in the morning with the window open and listen to it.

Martha was there again in the morning to greet us for breakfast. The full Irish breakfast was amazing! there were plenty of other options to choose from also including fresh fruits, yoghurts, granola, cereals, breads, cheese, toast and the option to make up your own style cooked breakfast.

Cong is a beautiful little village, like a small version of the Lake District in England. Everywhere is within walking distance and there are some lovely little bars and restaurants to eat in. We went for a walk through the castle grounds and onto a trail of the woods which are also very beautiful. There is a nearby Equestrian Centre where you can ride horses up through the woods and also hire bikes. Unfortunately we didn't get to do this but our friends did who said it was well worth doing.

Thank you Martha and family for a delightful stay and also for giving us lifts to The Lodge at Ashford Castle. It was very much appreciated.

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side

We were greeted by the matriarch of the lodge and met her delightful daughter-in-law the next morning. Martha was a tremendous host and made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed the made-to-order breakfast and Martha was full of great advice for our day of sightseeing. She had a wonderful suggestion on a river walk that led to Ashford Castle and her recommendation to stop at the Hungry Monk Cafe afterwards was greatly appreciated! Our room was comfortable and had a beautiful view of the river and Ryan's is perfectly situated to enjoy all that Cong has to offer.

There is not enough room to write all of the good stuff about this place. Just go and stay here for yourself. The hosts are amazing. The breakfast is delicious! And the village of Cong is a hidden gem in Ireland. Just go!!! I loved it here and can't wait to go back. One night and a day in this village is not enough for me.

Room Tip: Any room is a good room, but the front rooms face the river.
