My wife and I spent 7 days at the Europa Hotel in mid June. Our stay in this hotel made our entire vacation in Italy even better than we thought it will be.
Soon after our arrival to the Europa Hotel, we found out for ourselves, that the great reviews which this hotel is receiving on TA are correct. This hotel indeed stands out compared to other hotels of the same category, at least as far as our experience goes. The uniqueness of the Europa lies in the fact that it is owned and run by a family. The members of this family work together in the most professional and harmonious way to give the guests the best possible service, and they certainly succeed at that. Most significantly, my wife and I were given throughout our stay a warm feeling as if we were member of the family. This attribute is quite rare in my opinion and I am not sure how often you can find it even in 5 star hotels.
The hotel is newly renovated and tastefully furnished with lots of thought given to the smallest details. The rooms are maintained well, they are kept very clean and they are equipped with amenities such as wifi, quiet and efficient air-conditioning, a safe, and even slippers. The atmosphere is peaceful inside the hotel as well as outside, as the hotel is located in a lovely neighbourhood away from any noisy main roads.
Lake Como, which can be viewed from most parts of the hotel, is within 4-5 minutes walk with a long promenade running alongside the shore, perfect for an evening stroll. The geese and ducks are sure to welcome you especially if you have a piece of bread for them. The Alp Mountains, some of which still have some snow on their slopes complete the picturesque scene.
The rented car which we had at our disposal enabled us to tour the beautiful area around lake Como. A visit to the beautiful town of Bellagio is a must. Ask Mattia at the front desk for recommendations how to get to Bellagio since there is more than one way to get there.
As far as food and beverage go, breakfast is included with the room, which is not always the case in Italian hotels. My advice is that if breakfast is not specifically mentioned in the description of the hotel, it is advisable to inquire about it ahead of time to avoid frustration later on. At the Europa the included breakfast is served in their restaurant and the choice is diverse. At noon, if by chance you happen to be in the hotel and not out sightseeing, you feel like having something light to eat you will certainly be accommodated by the kitchen.
As far as dinner is concerned, although there are some restaurants in the area we had all our dinners in the hotel's restaurant, every evening with no exception. After trying their dinner the first time we simply couldn't miss mother Angela's amazing home-made meals, especially her freshly handmade pastas. Angela prepares her pastas in several styles with different kinds of fillings and sauces, from vegetarian to meat and to chopped fresh fish. This is the best pasta I have ever had anywhere.
In addition to the pastas you can choose from the salads, soups, meat, fish as well as deserts, all prepared in the typical Italian way. One day during our stay there, as we were coming down for breakfast Angela invited us into her kitchen to see how things work… The fish from the lake had just arrived and she was cleaning and preparing them for the meals that were to be served that day. It looked like a demanding task, yet I noticed that the kitchen looked sparkling clean.
As far as beverages are concerned I should not omit the mention of the rich selection of wines offered, either by the glass or by the bottle.
I would like to conclude by thanking this charming, gentle, hospitable and professional family for making our stay at their hotel a pleasant one in every way.
Special thanks to Mattia who manages the hotel in the most professional way and who is fluent in several languages, his father Oreste who has a great sense of humour and a talent for making tasty omlets in the mornings, mother Angela whose fabulous pastas I mentioned earlier. Angela's busy duties in the kitchen do not keep her from coming out from the kitchen during more quiet times to socialize with the guests I should also mention Ilaria whose helping hands are felt around the hotel, and last but not least cute little niece Aurora who is not yet 2 years old but she already makes her pleasant presence noticed at the hotel.
We left the hotel with a taste for more.

This is a small, family-owned hotel located in Sorico, on Lake Como, where you will be greeted by wonderful hosts who will make you feel at home right away. The hotel has bicycles at your disposal for a ride along the lakeside and a restaurant where you can enjoy the most delicious home-made Italian cooking ever, by la Mama, yet with a touch of creativity worthy of a great chef: perfect home-made pasta and lasagna and heavenly desserts ! Try their tiramisu, it's nothing like the classic tiramisu you know and you'll be surprised by its delicacy and elegance, and it tastes soooo good!!! I also tried Mama's home-made limoncello ice cream that was simply out of this world! Again, great hosts, great food, great location! Special thanks to Mattia for the short moments shared discussing the Korean food and culture, among other things! Father and son are multilingual and mother's a great cook. What a family!!!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel last week for 3 nights. Throughout our stay Mattia and his family hosted us in the best possible way! The best people ever! Mattia was always there for us. We felt like we were the only guests at the hotel. but we were not :) This is an example of how a hotel service should be. In addition, the entire hotel and rooms are very very clean. The meals made by the mother of the family are excellent !! so tasty! Traditional Italian cuisine. The hotel overlooks the stunning views of Lake Como.
In short, I highly recommend this hotel for a perfect and relaxing holiday. Do not hesitate to choose this hotel without a doubt!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this family run hotel, particularly interacting with Mattia and his parents. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and spacious with all the amenities you need. The best part of our stay was the homemade dinner served in their restaurant. Over the course of two meals, we sampled lasagna, pasta stuffed with spinach in a brown butter sauce, gnocchi with pesto and fried fish with veggies. It was all delicious. Make sure you save room for the tiramisu - it was out of this world good!
