The staff is over friendly and helpful, and very funny (waiters) Rooms are clean, every day comes the cleaning lady, cleans up the floor and changes the towels, makes the bed. The courtyard pool is very clean and well maintained. Food is fresh and delicious, every day fresh salad and excellent feta, and various dishes, every day changes. If you come to Agios Georgios, you must try the lamb, especially Mama's Special at the Seagulls restaurant, it is lamb, baked in oven with wine sauce and orange juice and garnished with apricot, salad and chips. It is wonderful. The fish-mix platter is the best at Rouvellas Tavern, great view to the sea and incredible taste and a really nice lady. The warmest watered beach is at Stamatis restaurant, the water is so clear there. For transportation, go to George ("forget the rest, George is the best") he will hook you up for a decent price, it is better if you rent for 2-3 days. You'll get better price then. All and all, for 300Euros, what I paid including the bus from Romania, you'll get a really nice holiday stay in Golden Sands Hotel.
PS: don't miss the Greek night, it's so much fun!

nice facilities, rooms could do with a little attention
The food is good, repetitive, but decent choices.
Staff are a pleasure and lift the hotel
The pool area is clean and comfortable
For the price you could do a lot worse, enjoyable holiday and relaxing
The bike hire next door is excellent

Room Tip: try the rooms at the front, but could be noisy overlooking the bar

Room was nice, clean and cosy, plus free air-condition and refrigerator. But an event made our stay there even more enjoyable; namely I lost my wallet somewhere in the reception area and it was given back to me with all the money, three credit cards and all the documents! Thank you Aspasia .

This was our fourth year holidaying in Agios Georgios, staying at different accommodation each time, consequently we didn't know quite what to expect. We arrived at 2pm and immediately felt the friendliness and geniality of the place. Asia on reception welcomed us and immediately two cooling drinks were given, most welcome after a journey starting at 3.30am. We were shown to our room on the 2nd floor, accessed by small lift so no heaving of suitcases up the stairs. The room was larger than expected with ample storage space and a good size bathroom with hand held shower and complimentary soap and shampoo. The balcony was perfect, with rattan chairs and table, affording lovely views over the mountains and sea. Outside the pool was very clean and of a good size with ample loungers. Other extras included tennis and basket ball courts (more for the cooler weather)
The outside bar, run by the delightful Katarina and Manos, was superb. They made so much time to correct our very pigeon Greek, showing great patience with a great sense of humour. Katarina oversaw the pool snacks which were taken in a cool covered area facing the bar.
The hotel restaurant was of a very good standard with buffet style meals. The work rate of Alexis, Maria and "Freddie Starr" the catering comedian, was phenomenal.
All in all a great big Yammas to the owners and staff of the Golden Sands for making our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: Any upper rooms for the view

Just got back from a week here.
On first appearance looks nice but once inside very dated.
Bedrooms basic
Bathroom even more basic.
Beds okay but no mattress protector, pillows mouldy. We're swapped but to a rock hard unusable pillow. Had to use a towel.
Staff very friendly
Food repetitive and boring with minimum choice. Breakfast- cereal, cake, cheese, ham, bread with 2 small slow domestic toasters, croissants, tinned fruit.
Lunch- soup, salad, chicken, pork casserole, rice, chips was typical and always cold. Deserts was either a mousse and apples or jelly and apples another day.
Evening meal pretty much the same.
Never labelled so often guess work as to what you were eating.
We ended up eating out locally.

Location- main beach 20 mins walk
Plenty of water sports , tavernas etc
Nearest beach 3 mins walk although access down steep concrete path. Free sun beds if you are buying drinks etc from taverna.
A few tavernas near by. Two supermarkets.
Bus stop outside hotel for Corfu town. Leaves 10.30 every day 2.90 euros each way.

Overall
If you are on a budget then this hotel gives you a basic base but would consider b & b as tavernas offer better value and quality food.
