We stayed at the Mahamaya during our honeymoon in Bali and it most definitely did not disappoint. Gili Meno is beautiful and the resorts efforts towards conservation are brilliant.
- Beautiful Island
- Clean and spacious rooms with beach access and a great outdoor shower
- Delicious food & fresh juices
- Great snorkeling just off the beach, we were in the water for 5mins until we saw a turtle!!
- Memorable sunsets
Awesome experience, we will definitely be visiting again soon

Stayed here in one of the suites with direct beach access, perfect location of this resort overlooking the discrageful Gigi Travangan island. This resort is equipped with full emenities, suites spacious and the star of this resort is the restaurant, very good food with excellent service.

We had an fantastic stay here in this lovely hotel. Its placed next to the beach with a part of the restaurants setting on the beach with lights so you can have dinner under the stars. Two very nice swimming rooms and beautiful rooms. Everything very nice and clean. All the staff was very nice and friendly. We snorkled and saw a seaturtel just outside the hotel! I can strongly recomend this hotel!

We had been on Gili Meno for a couple of days and had saved dinner here for the last night.

Certainly the most beautiful and romantic dinner setting in the island. You set on the beach under the lanterns.

Attentive and sincere staff team. We felt welcome and cared about during our meal.

The food was outstanding. I had fillet steak which was perfect as was my husbands lamb.

You can feel the British influence. We were told the owner is from Liverpool. The puddings included crumble and sticky toffee pudding.

Portions are perfectly sized.

During the night we chatted to staff about the hotel and at the end were taken to have a look at rooms for future visits. The hotel has such a wow factor. Well appointed spacious rooms. Gorgeous pool. I imagine it is extremely relaxing. If we get back to Meno we will definitively stay here.

Perfect evening.

More expensive than other local restaurants but in a different league. Represents excellent value for money for the quality of food and attention to detail.

We were very glad that we didn't stay on GIli T as it is VERY busy compared to Gili Meno. We used Blue Water Express for boats - they are a very well organised outfit and I highly recommend them. We also booked, via email to the hotel, a private boat transfer from Gili T - this was well worth it as you are picked up as soon as the boat arrives and your baggage is unloaded, and then after a 5 minute speedboat journey, dropped off adjacent to the hotel. You will need to pack flip flops or beach shoes in your hand luggage though - there is a lot of broken coral that has washed up on the beaches.

We stayed at Mahamaya in August for 7 nights and had glorious sunshine for 6.5 days. WEAR SUNSCREEN - I burnt my shoulders quite badly during an overcast bike ride (you can hire these FOC from the hotel). It takes around an hour, although the route isn't entirely navigable by two wheels as the deep sand is tricky on a bike, even the ones with thicker tyres.

The room we had was fairly basic, but functional and certainly comfortable. It would however be a very good idea to improve the insulation and door/window seals in the rooms. This would allow the cool air from the AC to stay inside, thereby saving on electricity. Speaking of which, there were one or two power cuts during our stay, but this did not cause a problem at all.

The pools are very nice; perhaps one or two more sunbeds and parasols would be good though.

The restaurant is excellent - all of the food we had was very good, albeit quite expensive given what you can have elsewhere on the island. Most of the cocktails were good, and happy hour was very enjoyable (3 for 2, and you can accrue the free ones on the day!) Book a table well in advance though - no later than breakfast, and ask for those at the front of the beach as they have the best views. People from other places on the island come here for dinner too, such is the reputation.

If you fancy a change from the hotel restaurant, there are plenty of other places to eat not far away at all - what look like BBQs on the side of the sandy track were exceptionally fresh and very delicious! We went to Adeng Adeng a couple of times - good food, drink (Bintang is the local beer) and very peaceful.

The sunsets are lovely when viewed from Mahamaya; a few people from other parts of the island would often stop briefly to see the view. Worth mentioning that this was not off-putting by any means.

The hotel is directly opposite where the best snorkeling is on the island; just watch out for irresponsible snorkelers and the odd slightly mad boat driver.

The diving was pretty good too; not as good as the Maldives, but still very enjoyable. I used the closest Dive Centre, Divine Divers, which is literally 200m away, if that. If you are a novice, be advised that the current at Shark Point (small reef sharks if you're lucky) can be VERY strong. All of the guys and girls at Divine Divers were excellent; Olivia, who is Swiss, probably speaks better English than I do too - symbiosis; what a word to just casually use!

The hotel is very eco-oriented and don't offer straws - this is a good thing as they usually end up in the ocean, then inside the stomachs of the turtles etc, which is just wrong and must be agonising for the animals. They also don't use plastic bottles either as plastic rubbish is a big problem in Indonesia. The do issue metal water bottles that you can refill from the water cooler in your room.

The staff were all very good; I wish I could remember the names of those who looked after us; they did a great job.

Bugs and critters were not an issue during our stay, although a small gecko got into the bathroom and very briefly jumped onto my girlfriend on its way out! I laughed so hard!!!

I had my laundry done via the hotel towards the end of our stay as we were heading on to Singapore. There's no need for the express service as mine came back within 36 hours.

All in all, a great hotel - definitely the best on Gili Meno.

Top tip - when a local salesman/woman asks you which hotel you're staying at, don't say Mahamaya - say one of the cheap ones, otherwise the price of everything goes up!
