The restaurant in Tygyn Darhan hotel is "the" place for the local elite to see and be seen. The interior is a little worn, but still nice enough. Alcohol is available. Tygyn Darhan specializes in Yakutian and Russian food primarily, although some more European dishes are offered as well. The stroganina and indigirka salad are examples of Yakutian cuisine that should be sampled. Tygyn Darhan does a better job with the traditional fish dishes than it does with dishes from young horse or reindeer, which are always over cooked even if you ask them to cook it rare. There are better places in town for Yakutian food.

Liked the food which included frozen fish and fermented cow's milk. Atmosphere though "posh" was a little soulless.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights and twice had dinner in its restaurant. Our meals had plenty of local flavour with dishes based on fish, pork, beef or horse meat (served piping hot in a clay bowl) with plenty of fresh berries and cream for afters. The menu is at least partially translated into English, which is helpful. Don't miss trying the starters of dice-sized cubes of frozen white fish with onions and herbs. You pop them into your mouth and feel the ice gradually melt into a fishy mass that has a pleasant taste. Unusual. Our breakfasts were fine: self-service from a wide selection of cooked and raw items.
