The Hotel add said it had WIFI. As a person on a business trip, one takes this as fact. I get there and the Net is just crap, it was like this for both days I was there even after talking and advising the hotels and supplier there was a problem. Not Good. Check all your bar bills,. They tried to charge me for drinks I had not had. The rooms are 50/50 as mine had what looked like White ants into the wood. Not many other choices in Chingola, so hoping they get the WIFI sorted,. Food and service is great.

Room Tip: Take what you can get.

My stay at protea was nice. The rooms are clean and the air conditioning was excellent. The water on the other hand, lived much to be desired, it was dirty, brown in colour.
Breakfast was good and very fresh.

Dear Queen,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We rely on GUEST feedback to determine both the positive and negative aspects of our hotel and to improve wherever possible.

We have taken note of your comments regarding the brown water and we do apologise for the disappointment caused to you as a result of this. Please note that the water is supplied to us by the local water utility company and we have been assured that it is perfectly safe for human consumption. They are currently in the process of replacing the pipes to rectify the problem however they have advised that it will take several months to complete.

Your interest and concern are therefore extremely valuable to us and we hope that you will be staying with us again soon. We should welcome another opportunity to show you Protea Hospitality at its best.

Stayed 5 days on a business trip. Very comfortable rooms. Great service. Adequate menu with a reasonable choice. Kitchen was accommodating if you wanted something else. Would recommend it anytime.

Be warned that the wi-fi connection can be a bit up and down. Very slow, but then it is FREE so don't complain!

Room Tip: Ask for a double bed rather than the twin beds. Very comfy.

I have used the conferencing facilities at this hotel on two recent occasions for running technical training courses of several days each. The arrangements are always excellent, everything is ready when it is supposed to be, and it is clean and pleasant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The conference room could do with a much larger screen as people at the back of the room battled to see. The wifi in the conferencing area also kept dropping, despite the best efforts of the local IT man.

This is probably the best hotel to stay on the Zambian Copper Belt. Rooms are old, but clean and comfortable and everything works. There is free wifi. Food is fine and caters adequately for vegetarian preferences (not common in this part of the world). After one stay, the staff recognise you and you are welcomed back enthusiastically. Overall, a very pleasant place to work and stay, with a lovely patio to unwind and watch the sunset in the evenings.

A good basic hotel for business
My room was decent and very clean
I could only complain about the fridge running all night because it had not been defrosted for a while (yes I am quite sensitive about this kind of noise...)
Kitchen is quite good as well; for one evening we had a nice braai !
Otherwise staff is helpful and wireless is OK
Don't bother about the swiming pool which was running but is too small
