As with some of the previous reviews, we were not intending to stay at the Kos hotel, but due to the Atki beach in Kardamena not opening for the season on time our booking was transferred. My husband and I had booked a while back choosing an All Inclusive hotel so we had some entertainment options for our little boy. Whilst the Kos hotel didn't have the same level of facilities on offer, they made up for it in other ways.
What we got with the Kos hotel was a very friendly and personal service with it being a smaller hotel. The staff were very friendly and tried their best to accommodate our requests. For the All Inclusive food, a buffet was laid on for us for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and whilst not extensive it was fresh and tasty. The reception staff were excellent and very friendly.
The hotel was spotlessly clean both inside and out. It has a nice (but cold at this time of year) swimming pool with a separate shallow pool for children along with a small play area. The main bar area opens out to the pool serving drinks and snacks throughout the day. Whilst there was a gate it was never closed which meant children could run straight out onto the road outside which was a concern for us.
The location is great just opposite the beach. The beach itself looked a little unloved but you don’t have to travel far to find a quiet beach. If you are staying here on a bed & breakfast basis, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to try within a minute walk. If you get chance there is a thermal spring in the sea about 10 minutes drive away; Agios Fokas. You can also get a bus there.
The rooms are a good size with a separate bedroom and living area. There is a small kitchen unit with fridge, microwave etc. Our only concern was the balcony; being with a small child it wasn't quite secure enough with gaps in railings so possible climb through or climb up and over the top. The lock on the patio door is just a handle so if not careful children can let them self out. Of course we didn't leave our little one unsupervised. Perhaps if you are with children request a ground floor room. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool so pretty quite. A lovely hotel and perfect to explore the area.
