The flying fish is perfectly cooked - and is lightly dusted with fresh parsley. I usually get a dozen and have them with salad or on a salt bun. Just delicious. The brownie is also fantastic.

Had a great time here for breakfast with 2 friends. Great food & service. Literally my new favorite breakfast spot. As an American expat this place made me feel at home.

In spite of its name this is a suburban house away from the main road. I dropped my wife off at her hairdressers in Hastings and then queued for an hour at Kensington Oval for tickets for the One Day England vs West Indies cricket International. When I got back she told me about the Country House as recommended to her by a fellow hair client. It was nearby so we went an found the lady with her son a local pilot finishing his very late breakfast of Eggs Benedict. There was adequate parking in front and at the rear replacing what might have been the country garden. The neighbourhood was fairly quiet and it appeared that about half the business was Take Aways, and of course catering. There were outdoor tables in the shade, but at midday on the South Coast we preferred the air conditioned interior. We were welcomed and selected a good table near the door to observe the action. Service was polite and efficient, and the lunchtime menu varied and inexpensive. I started with a very filling fish chowder served with garlic buttered local bread followed by a seafood Lassagna, pasta, cheese, shrimp, dolphin & crab. Very tasty, but two courses defeated me the portions were so big. My wife enjoyed Flying Fish Salad, Country House flying fish, red onion , egg, lettuce , cucumber & tomato. The bill was very modest and the experience enjoyable. Toilets were outside on the ground floor, clean and well maintained.
